Tigers win!

Post by a_c_m »

New Boston Glenwood Tigers 71
Latham Western Indians 67 (overtime)

Congrats Tigers! Great team effort!

Western led at the end of the first quarter 19-12 and at the half 36-25. The Indians led 27-14 in the middle of the second quarter. New Boston rallied in the third quarter outscoring the Indians 19-7 to take the lead after 3 at 44-43. Western hit a 3 pt shot at the buzzer to tie the game in regulation 59-59. The fourth quarter and overtime was a battle. The Tigers went on to win in overtime 71-67. This was one of the most intense games that I have seen in recent years. Both communities supporting their respective teams well with the standing room only crowd.

The score was tied 9 times throughout the game with the largest lead by either team late in the game at 5 for NB and 3 for Western.

Great effort by the Indians! Congrats on your fine season so far and Good Luck in the tournament!

New Boston, with the win keeps pace with the Symmes Valley Vikings for first place in the league. The Vikings won tonight over Eastern Pike. The Tigers travel to Symmes Valley tomorrow evening in a make up game for the SOC I championship. The Tigers are 14-5 overall and 11-2 in league play.

The Tiger JV squad, with a seven game winning streak, are now 13-6 and 9-4. Their score was 63-41. Another fine effort by these young men!

Go Tigers!

Judging by the numerous seniors that are graduating I would say that next year WILL be a rebuilding year. But, only time will tell...

The Tigers have Juniors Michael Salisbury and Robert Waugh returning to lead the team. The Junior Varsity squad under Steve Hamilton, won 8 of the last 9 games to end the season at respectable 13-7. It depends on how the younger kids come along and how hard they want to work. There is potential, but we will have to wait and see what happens next year.

Coach Stapleton could not hold Homer Pelligranon's wooden leg.

allsportsfan.............Why do you have to disrespect one coach to praise another?

FYI....The name was Pellegrinon.
