I might be one of the few outside of Logan that thinks the Chieftains will challenge for the SEOAL title, because they have quality guard play. LHS returns 3 starters, including Patrick Angle and Mason Mays, who should provide them consistently good play on the perimeter. Inside will be the Chieftains' biggest question mark. The Poindexter kid graduated, so whoever mans the paint will do so with not much experience. Still, I watched Logan several times last year and think that they will be a very competitive team in the SEOAL in 2008-09.......they only lost to Zanesville by 1 point at Logan last season, and finished with a 13-7 mark.

Logan will be a tough out for anyone next year. They will be in the top half of the SEOAL for sure. Could be a top 3 team by season's end.

No they won't just be realistic. Watching them play basketball is like watching people ice skate for the first time

After watching this team play last year and who is coming back they should do very well. Your 09 seniors are very atheletic and will be great team leaders with a winning attitude. They are working hard in the off season, ball bard, summer league and just pick up games... Keith Myers has them working hard its just how much they want it.
Zach Adams, Chase Colliton, Kyle Abram has played ball together since elementary you put John King in this mix and you have great chemisty with your seniors and then Mason Mays and Pat Angle not to mention Jeff Diets and Jordan Rutter they will be tuff. 5 months down the road we will see.. Lots of talent

... look for the Logan Purple to IMPROVE on last seasons record ... the Purple will put more athletic talent on the floor this season than last - Patrick Angle, Mason Mays, Jordan Rutter, Jeff Dietz, Kyle Guess, Ralph Robinson, Clint Schrader ... add on Jon King, Zach Adams, Chase Colliton, Kyle Abram maybe Trent McCort, Zach Redmond, going between JV and Varsity ... size will be an issue with this group but athletic ability, hussle will have the Purple pushing the ball again this season ... Chillicothe/Zanesville will be down (as far as losing the quality talent they will need to replace - they won't be able to replace a Hitchens, Chambers, Aronhault, Harris, etc. - just not going to happen) .... this allows the rest of the pack to move up or at least be in the game ... Ironton will be outstanding this season with the transfers from Fairland mixed with their returning group (deep, talented, outstanding defensively, outstanding offensively as well) ... Portsmouth/Warren will be right there as the season develops ... Gallia?Jackson? - nevermind ...

... any word on whether Derek Hart will be cleared for athletics this season??? ...

... I like the Purple to be a factor in the league throughout the season ... good group to follow from the cheap seats ...

Fans of the purple should get a good gauge going into the season as Logan travels to Logan Elm to play in the OHSAA Foundation Game on Nov. 22. Always some good basketball between these two schools. The girls play at 6pm, boys at 7:30.

Couple of other good non-leaguers.
Dec. 13 - Logan Elm plays district champ Fairland down at the Convo, 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 27 - Logan Elm travels to defending state champ Chillicothe, 1:30 p.m. tip.

The 08-09 Logan Basketball boys program should have a pretty good seaso.// There is no reason not to produce a great records. You have Adams fast speed great defence, Colliton with the threes , Diets big man inside , Abram at point along with Mays, and Angle... Should not get beat then you have King, Robinson, and Rutter and do not forget about Kyle Guess coming up and man you have on an on talent... now we will see if Myers can use this talent.... remember Bently is not helping this year..... Most of these young men having been pl;aying summer ball and those who are not playing a fall sport are working out, running , shooting...... should be a good year... Myers has some very good Senior leadership with Colliton. Adams, Abram, King. These men will have to show heart, and leadership to the younger players..... but hey they know this they have had to show it the last 6 years. Good Luck Men.....
