DII

Can anyone stop the Tanks of Unioto? 23 wins are the most of any team entering the tournament. Vinton County has outsiders shooters, so the first round match-up Friday night could be interesting.

Prediction: Unioto over Fairfield Union in the finals.

DIII

How good is Lynchburg Clay? They enter the tournament with the 2nd best overall record (21-2). The potential Fairland/Lynchburg match-up could be a must see on Championship Saturday. The late games in the semi's should be outstanding. Alexander vs Valley and Chesapeake vs Eastern Brown.

Prediction: Fairland over Lynchburg-Clay and Chesapeake over Valley in the finals. The OVC earns bragging rights in 2016.

DIV

This is shaping up to be the best DIV tournament since 2004 when Clay, Trimble, Reedsville Eastern, Sciotoville and South Webster all duked it out. This one is interesting from the onset with the TVC-HOCKING vs SOC I ... Every first round match-up is one league versus the other! Trimble vs Clay, Eastern Pike vs Waterford, Sciotoville vs Belpre and South Gallia vs Western Pike.

Prediction: Trimble over Waterford and Sciotoville over South Gallia in the finals.

I don't know if there is a sure bet out of the whole lot in the next round of games. I do believe Trimble will beat Clay based off strength of schedule and their competitiveness in those games. I hope I'm wrong because I'm an SOC homer. Best wishes to all the young men playing.

I hope CC out of Unioto gets another shot at playing to finish out his senior year.

The FIRST Southeast District champion of 2016 is ....... The Waterford Lady Wildcats!

They defeated Notre Dame 65-26 on Thursday. They will play in the regional semi-finals next Thursday in Jackson.

Actually, it was the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers. They defeated Circleville last night to win the Division 2 District Crown.

Western might have something to say in D4. I watched them beat 17-5 Notre Dame last night. Kyle Miller and coaching staff have them playing very strong right now. Best crowd I have seen all year.

Their crowd is Crazy Loud, Their Coach is too notch, they can beat anyone in either district. I actually pick them to go to district finals....problem there is if east gets past belpre than that's who western would face. East has won both times vs western, once without their second leading scorer and leading rebounder. That would probably give East a slight mental edge. But like I said Western can beat anyone left.

Would be great to see all SOC teams make it pass the first round at the convo, I believe East and Clay will have the two hardest routes being East spread on a big floor where their point guard is their only threat, and Clay facing the very talented Trimble team. Eastern and Western should have tough games but I believe all will come down to the wire. It's tourney time so anything can happen!
