Apparently not much interest in Panther land. Certainly a once proud basketball program hasn't fallen off the radar to the point where no one cares anymore?

It's still a really good job. Lots of talent coming up.

It was announced late in the week, so I would think the interest will perk up very soon.

Almost half the schools in the SVC looking for coaches right now. Adena, Westfall, and SE. Adena and Westfall must be in no hurry because those positions came open a few weeks ago and still no word. Summer is right around the corner, this needs to be taken care of quickly. Where's the SE fans? Who's your short list of candidates to head your basketball team? Let's hear em'

It does seem like interest in the Panthers has dwindled.

Westfall has done their interviews already. I'm sure they'll announce something in the coming days.

So Buckeye, you're not from SE but have heard many names being dropped? Give us the scoop on who's being talked about.

[quote="Joe Buckeye"]It does seem like interest in the Panthers has dwindled. I would think they would look at the girls' coach. He certainly turned that program around. He may be able to do the same with the boys.

Using that logic the Skeens girl would have to be considered as the front runner.
On a serious note. I have been told they have only had about five people apply so there may not be as much interest as people think and that could happen.

Skeens (and Wheeler) definitely were essential in the girls' success. Expectations will be very high next year for the girls. Many people I have talked to expect a gold ball and a district title from the Lady Panthers. I agree with those expectations and anything less I would consider a failure.

Andy Slaughter was hired by Southeastern. Former coach at Crooksville and Sidney. Left Sidney on April 6 to spend more time with his family. It seems that he's had enough of them already.

Good luck to Coach Slaughter.

If the superintendent likes him he will be around for a while.

Great hire, played against him while he was at Crooksville and scrimmaged Sidney while Andy was there. Great guy, excellent coach. Kids will play hard for him.
