Eastern vs Manchester 12/11

Post by classof86 »

A rematch from last year at the convo. With Blevins inside I find it hard to think Eastern will come out with a win. Thoughts?

Should be a good game. I expect it to be a close one.

Everyone mentions Blevins and he is a very good player but Coombs has been doing a lot of the damage lately.

That is true.... Combs is their leading scorer. Manchester has a decent mix of height and gaurd play this season. My only concern for Manchester is the help they can provide Blevins in the post. Last season Dylan Hanson provided a huge help to Blevins cleaning up some of his mistakes on the other side of the rim and having opposing coaching staffs constantly try to keep him in check....they really dont have that strong garbage man this season. With all this being said I will take the greyhounds by 20. Combs with 18 and Blevins with 21.

They are good players but just not on the same level inside as Hanson was last season.

Should be a great matchup, definitely one of the SHL Games of the Week.

The Ross and West kid are pretty good in the post, but it's hard to replace a 4 year starter in Hanson. Hopefully as the year goes on, one of these 2 can step up and be another scoring option like they had in Hanson.

nice win lol...a win that the refs gave em...they didnt win it the refs gave it to em...seems like every foul was against manchester...15+ fouls in a half is un heard of and doesnt happen especially when the refs only call 6 on the other team...come on thats not a nice win..if the game had been called fair manchester would of won by 10+..so dont give any credit to the team for easterns win give the credit to the refs for callin wat should be considered the worst reffed game in history of high school basketball

Yeah, can't blame the reffing....Howie has never had any calls from the refs.

You must be a player, because any rational, mature person wouldn't make a statement like that. Only somebody acting immature and emotional after a loss would not give any credit to the other team, and blame a loss solely on the refs. I didn't attend the game, but I doubt very seriously that the officials made any shots for Eastern, nor did they turn the ball over for Manchester. While there may have been a discrepancy in the number of fouls called against Manchester compared to the Eagles, I doubt very seriously that the officials had an agenda. I imagine that while Eastern doesn't have a true "big man", they did what they've done to everybody so far (and in football for that matter) and "out-quicked" Manchester. Normally when a team is faster than you, you tend to foul more trying to keep up with them.

With that said....Great Job Eagles!
And.....Good Luck to Manchester the rest of the season! (unless you play Eastern again) ;-)

Sounds like a good win for the eagles...I didn't go to the game but I know manchester is very quick and likes to press...I doubt they were out quicked...this will be a good learning experience for manchester I'm sure they will come out a stronger team then what they went into the game

Well put.

I don't know if the Eagles out quicked Manchester or not... I didn't go to the game either. I just know that's what Hendrix, Pratt, Connery, and Carnahan did most of the football season and that's what they've done through the first two games.

The good thing about basketball is that at the end of the season this one game won't matter that much. Eveyone gets in the tournament, and those are the games that will matter.
