Post by 90buckeye »

Coaches,

District tournament managers will be sending out information soon regarding the new online seeding/voting system that the OHSAA's Southeast District Athletic Board has adopted and implemented. Instructions regarding how to create an account, submit your team's biographical information and how to cast your vote will be included in the information the managers send you. The information can also be found at this link: http://www.seodab.org/index.php/winter- ... basketball

If you need help creating an account, or submitting any of the requested information online via http://www.baumspage.com, feel free to contact me anytime. Terry Young terry@baumspage.com 740-517-0195

Does this mean no more seeding meeting in Jackson?

The meeting will still be held in Jackson as always. Girls meeting is on Feb. 8 and boys meeting is on Feb. 15. Coaches will receive information about their respective tournaments and a copy of how all of the coaches voted at the meeting along with a copy of their bracket. Coaches are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting as there may be a tie that can not be broken by the procedure set up by the board and may require the coaches to vote to break a tie. The district athletic board used the online seeding/voting system in the fall for cross country, volleyball and soccer and it was well received.

We used it in cross country and it only was a bit off because a handful of coaches didn't give any effort...even then still was good and didn't affect anything.

This will be great as it will be out in the open on who gave no effort or voted strangely

… when will coaches be able to vote for the seeding in their particular sectional ? will the information as to how individual coaches voted be released publicly or have to be "leaked" ? … no more radio interviews from THE meeting in Jackson … coaches will be at home … using 2 screens - one for SEOPS and the Elite 8 rankings the other to cast their votes for seeding  …

Coaches will have four days to submit team seed bio information (Sunday through Wednesday of week prior to the draw date). Coaches will then have two days to cast their ballots (Thursday through Friday). Coaches will be provided with detailed results of how all coaches from within their sectional voted at the meeting. Teams will be placed on NCAA-style bracket based on the results of the voting.

I know that for soccer it went really well. You can see what coaches have a 'beef' with other teams by viewing the results of the poll. Overall, this gives the coaches more time to review the resume provided by the other coaches and make a good decision.
