Wauseon 42 Eastmoor 35.

Two key moments late. Wauseon up 32/31 and get a driving 360 3 point play.

Wauseon up 35-33 misses front end and boards it and puts it in for 37-33 lead late.

St V Trailing Trotwood 48-46 in a great game. 5:33 to go.

St V has defeated 2 of the D1 semi finalists. St Eds and Massillon Jackson. They also lost to Cleveland VA St Joes.

Both these teams are 20 points better than Wauseon or Eastmoor

Co players of the year in D2 in that one. Patton had 34 in the loss for Trotwood. Graves had 22 in the win for St V. He had been shutout in the 4th until he hit the buzzer beater at the rim. Very tough shot. Lebron buying some new shoes !!

2nd time in 3 years that Eastmoor has lost in the state semifinals after winning the Athens regional, while Wauseon advances to play Akron St.Vincent-St.Mary for the D2 championship. Wauseon's last trip to Columbus was in 1994, when they beat Ironton in the semifinals. I believe that same school year Wauseon also beat the Fighting Tigers in the baseball state semifinals.

Can Fairland end the drought of SE teams losing in the state semifinals?.......since 2010, these SE teams have lost in the state semifinals......2010 Chesapeake, 2011 Portsmouth, 2013 Ironton, 2013 Warren, and 2016 Lynchburg Clay. Portsmouth was the last SE school to win a game in the state semifinals when the Trojans beat Ottawa-Glandorf 74-66 in the 2012 D3 semis.

Since the OHSAA started the 4 division system in 1988, no D3 school from the SE district has ever won the state title. In fact, only Unioto in 1991, Wheelersburg in 1995, Ironton in 2005, and Portsmouth in 2012 have won their state semifinal game. In the state championship game, the Shermans lost to Haviland Wayne Trace, the Pirates lost to Orrville, Ironton lost to North College Hill, and Portsmouth lost to Cincinnati Summit Country Day. Portsmouth won the state title in 1988, but was D2 and won the Dayton regional.

Even considering teams outside the SE district, the Athens regional winner has not fared well in the state semis. D2 Zanesville lost in 2010, Bishop Ready and Harvest Prep lost in 2014, Eastmoor in 2015 and 2017, Walnut Ridge in 2015 and Wellington lost in 2016. New Concord John Glenn did win the D2 state title last year coming out of the Athens regional, while Chillicothe won the D2 state title coming out of Athens in 2008. Oak Hill and South Webster won the Columbus regionals en route to their state titles in 2009 and 2006, respectively.

Halftime of First Division 4 game:

Lutheran East 16
Delphos St Johns 13

This game following the Trotwood v St V game makes a good argument for always following the 4-3-2-1 order for the State Tournament.

This one got ugly. Lutheran East went on a 21-0 3rd qtr barrage. 37-13 after 3.

50-25 final.

I find it entertaining the MAC/private school complaining about Lutheran East getting transfers on yappi

Perry led 18-13 after 1 only to see Wellington go on a 13-0 run over the first 5 minutes of the second. Wellingtons biggest lead was 31-20 before Perry hit a 3 and Wellington hit 2 Free Throws to end the scoring.

I still can't believe trotwood lost. I honestly didn't think they'd have a game under 20. Heck I thought they'd win D1 easily too.

VA St Joseph's 73
Fairland 50

Unfortunately this wasn't really a competitive game as Fairland was never really in it past midway 2nd quarter. After watching Akron St V yesterday dispatch Trotwood and seeing the fact that VA St Joes had defeated Akron St V during the regular season..... this conclusion seemed probable.

Nothing to hang your head about though. Great season and all 5 starters have eligibility left.

Great season Dragons!

Roger Bacon up on Archbold 23-8 mid 2nd quarter

VA St Joes definitely looks like the class of D3. Archbold is 2-17 from field currently. 2-10 from deep
