Southeastern and Huntington

Post by Snotnose »

Seems to be these two schools are the only ones left still without a coach. How long does it take? schools like ZT, Western figured it out quickly, why can't these two SVC schools :?:

Southeastern needs to hire Strausbaugh . They have went outside their last 3 hires and none of them worked out.

I know, a sweet 16 appearance is a poor performance for a first year at a school.

I agree , a great little tourney run for a team that went 5-17 in the regular season . 2 of those wins were on buzzer beaters . That regional appearance will get him another coaching job if he wishes and memories for those kids they might never forget. It was my understanding he resigned. I didn't say I agreed with the changes that have taken place with the last 3 coaches but Evidently that tourney run wasn't enough to over come everything else that went on during the regular season . The guy before him had no choice but to go and the first left on his own to be an administrator . I say just give Strausbaugh a chance . He would definately be a better hire than the previous three .

A little surprised that SE's regional tournament run, didn't entice some current or former coaches to take a shot at the job. Interesting info though about some names being tossed around.

How about Huntington, no scoop there?

Maybe, just maybe it has something to do with them canning a guy who just won a district title in his first season.

I thought he resigned ? I don't even think the Southeastern job has been posted anywhere , at least I haven't seen it on any media. I have heard some names for the Huntington job but until I talk to someone I believe "is in the know" I won't post any names . Don't blame either of these schools for taking their time , they need to get the right fit and find someone willing to stay more than a year or two before they try to move on to something else.

Aww c'mon KRS, you can give us a few names. Always fun to get a little insight on who these schools are possibly looking at.
Names thrown around for the SE job on here - Alley, Adams, Strausbaugh, Skaggs, Calipari, Pitino
Names for Huntington - John Doe

No names for Huntington just yet but if those are the names for the SE job being thrown around Strausbaugh would be a no brainer. Followed by Pitino. Probably can't get him since we have no local restaurants for him to frolic around in. Calapari is out because we like to keep our titles.

I'm hearing Jaren Cox at Huntington. Wouldn't surprise me.

On SE, I'm not hearing that the door is 100 percent closed on Slaughter, although I'd be INCREDIBLY surprised as they accepted his "resignation" at the last board meeting. The showing at the board meeting was pretty impressive. Strausbaugh (whom I like and admire) put in for the job multiple times since Larry Legend was shown the door and he wasn't good enough any of the other times -- including when they hired Slaughter -- what changed in a year? We all should have seen the writing on the wall when RS was named varsity assistant last year.

Geesh, Huntington bringing in coaches with questionable pasts with their new football and basketball coaches now. Maybe they should change the name of the school to Second Chance HS.

Not hearing much about the Southeastern job. I say it's Strausbaughs and like I've said would be the best hire at SE in a while. Huntington - I would be suprised if it was Cox .
Zane Trace brought back Kellough, Southeastern can hire Jordan, whom I was told applied, Huntington could bring back Uhrig . Just like old times, we can even start the varsity games at 4:45 so they won't be out late.

So I'm confused?? Still no hirings at SE or Huntington. I thought someone said on here earlier Huntington hired a coach.

Maybe these two schools can just have a raffle fundraiser to hire a coach. Make money and someone gets the job. Buy raffle tickets for a $1, put your name on it and if your name gets pulled you now get a whistle and are in charge of a basketball team. 🙉

Both teams lost a lot but do return a solid lead scorer, should be fairly young and trying to bounce back from sub par seasons . Anyone catch any summer league games? How have they looked ?
