Long football playoff run gonna hurt them early. I got them 2nd in SOC II behind Oak Hill with Districts as their ceiling. The following year is their Regional team.*

It will be hard for them to replace Coleman. A lot of the scoring burden will be on Holden this year. I would like to see him play more inside and off the ball instead of being the primary ball handler. If he chooses to pay college basketball, he will most likely be a wing player, not a point guard. I do not see them beating Oak Hill this year. Burg has great athletes and a couple basketball players. Oak Hill has more basketball players. And of course, Norm.

The Burg also added Travis Bradford to the coaching staff.

He as some big shoes to fill with the loss of Alex Prater from the staff.

Why did Prater leave the staff?

Coach Ater's turnover in assistants seems to be one of concern. How many different assistants has he had in his 4 year tenure at Wheelersburg? I'm thinking of AT LEAST 7-8 different guys off the top of my head. If a few leave I'm sure that's justifiable, but when that many leave it seems to be a pattern.

Don't know why Prater left, but Burg getting Bradford as an assistant coach is huge. Don't think it'll be for long though as Bradford obviously still wants to coach and someone will hire him as head coach. Based on his success at East, I always thought he'd be a good fit at another SOC I school like Clay or Notre Dame if one of those jobs ever opened up.*

I think Prater took a job in Dayton as a coach and teacher.

Pirate football down 10-0 in the second. Will they turn it around or be hitting the hardwood next week?

They got it turned around - dominated the second half. At least one more week on the gridiron.

Bradford will be a huge get for Burg. Great basketball mind, and will help develop players even more.

Burg should have a solid season. They'll get off to a slow start bc football is going to win a State Title, but they will be fine. Them and Waverly should be competing for 2nd place in conference. I can't see them beating Oak Hill, but you never know. Losing Coleman really hurts them but they always have athletes to compete day in and day out. By the end of the season, they could make a run to Districts, maybe Regionals

Heard the player that came in from South Webster might be the point guard which should free up Holden more.

Like was said above Burg has at least one more week of football and possibly two so that will set them back some. With that being said, Burg will struggle early until they there basketball legs and then after that they should start to gel. Lot of athletes going to be on the floor for the Pirates

We will start slow due to the football success but that is fine. I would rather be red hot to close out the SOC and enter into tourney time firing on all cylinders.

With the continued GREAT season by the Burg's on the gridiron (and I wish them the BEST OF LUCK in the Semi-finals and hopefully the finals) ... are there enough basketball players NOT playing football - to still be having BB practices and any scrimmages being played ? just thinking out loud - trying to get a feel for the athletic mix of hoops only athletes vs football + hoops athletes ... the Burg will be fine in hoops- as was pointed out they have athletes, a winning atmosphere, PRIDE in ALL sports - by tourney time Wheelersburg WILL be in the conversation ...

Not many that don’t play football, especially starters. I think the Freshman from Webster is starting and he doesn’t play football. I know Lowery and Holden will be starters. Not sure sure who the othe4 two might be.
