2 Teams to Regionals

The D3 tourney should be very interesting and much more wide open with Fairland moving up to D2. With 2 teams advancing out of the districts, Oak Hill is one team that should land in the regionals. The other spot is very uncertain, but of course how the brackets are aligned will play a factor in who that other team is. Problem for any D3 team in the regionals is the Central District blockade of Africentric, The Wellington School, and Harvest Prep who have been bumped up to D3 because of competitive balance, and most likely one of those teams will be a regional opponent for a SE district team.

Looking at the sectional rosters, the Jackson sectional looks to be much stronger than Waverly. Interesting that Western Pike is in the Waverly sectional, while Eastern Pike has to travel to Jackson. That could mean a tougher matchup in the first or second round for the Eagles.

Portsmouth, Wheelersburg, Eastern Pike, and Ironton could be the main contenders for that other regional spot. Somebody else may come out as a darkhorse to challenge also, maybe Minford.

I think this year Portsmouth has an excellent chance to get the #1 seed at Waverly. If the Trojans can get that top seed, they could avoid the probable #1 seed at Jackson (Oak Hill) until the regionals.
