DII - Logan sectional

Post by 93Bulldog »

2-20 (6:15; 8:00) – 2-23 (6:00; 8:30) - 2-24 (3:00; 7:00)

Logan High School, Logan.

Schools: Athens, Circleville, Fairfield Union, Logan Elm, Marietta, New Lexington, Sheridan, Vinton County, Warren, Westfall. (10)

My as well get this party started early.

Fairfield Union and Vinton County will be tough to dethrone at 1 & 2.

Which puts a lot of emphasis on the 3 and 4 spots.

4 spot you could be looking at an early showdown with Fairland at the Convo, which I'm sure nobody wants. But facing a possible No. 2 Unioto doesn't sound appealing either.

Ah, you gotta love basketball season ...

Off of SR 56 in Williamsport, West of US 23 and Circleville. I think it is nearly the most Northern school in the district.

First year in D2 since the late 90's (if they even were in it then) and likely will only be D2 for the next 2 years. Traditionally good football and baseball school. They last reached The Convo in 2009, where they beat Peake and then lost to Piketon. Won a game as a 14 seed last year in D3, but would've likely reached The Convo if they had their star PG play more than 4-5 games last year. They will likely struggle and be at the bottom end of the Logan Sectional this year.

Probably because you never understood or watched sports till little Johnny got to HS. Westfall will not figure into the boys basketball picture this year.

Athens vs Warren next Tuesday Dec. 5th!

Always a HUGE DII Logan sectional game. Only play once during season.

Fairfield Union defeated Bishop Watterson 43-42. Pretty good game over all. FU has so much more room to improve and I expect them to do so. Things don't get much easier for them, they play Bloom-Carroll Saturday followed by Logan Elm, New Lex, and then Beachcroft before the new year.

Very top heavy this year compared to the past few. Never know about Sheridan, but I would guess they'll be competing for the 3 with Marietta (?) and Warren. Athens could be a scary matchup in one and done season once they get the ship righted.

Might be wrong but I thought Morgan beat Warren and didn't Sheridan beat Morgan the other night?

Yeah this sectional is fairly weak this year. Three good teams. The battle will be for the 4/5 spot

Fairfield Union and Vinton County will be tough to dethrone at 1 & 2. (Bulldog wrote)....it’s early, but I wouldn’t be so fast to put VC as an elite right now!! That loss to NY must hurt. Like they say...On any given nite!!!

VC played without Naylan Yates, probably the best player in the league, and Nevin Yates.

They will still end up a top 2 seed before it's all said and done.

Probably so. With Warren and Athens being down this year, it makes for a 3 tier sectional. The good, the average and the not so average.

Fairfield Union 68

Not sure I ever remember a team having the No. 1 seed locked up after the first two weeks of the season ... lol
