I think the point is valid regardless of what the 8th grade group does if the four grades ahead of them do nothing in the meantime. One class can have exceptional athletes and overcome a flaw in he system. (Such as Meigs having Colton Lilly and transfer Kaleb Sheets carry them for a couple of years.)
