Tues 12-12-17: Northwest @ Waverly

Thoughts on this game? Tigers have struggled in the early going but stand 2-1 on the season.

Tigers have indeed struggled, mostly at making shots and taking care of the ball. Tigers cannot go 12-30 from the FT line anymore and win games.
Even with the struggles Waverly is 2-1 with their loss being a 61-44 decision at Oak Hill where the Tigers did not shoot well.
Tigers playing at home for the first time Tuesday night so hopefully they are able to get more of their shots to go down.
Tigers got away from running in the second half at South Webster - TIGERS NEED TO RUN RUN RUN

Yeah I was not impressed with the 2-3 zone they went to in the third quarter

I know why they did it but it didn’t work. It kept the Tigers from running, didn’t stop Blevins and a couple other Jeeps knocked down triples.

Waverly had a little shorter bench then normal at Webster as well.

I look for the Tigers to knock down a few more shots tonight as they are at home. Waverly is still figuring rotations out. They are going to be a team that gradually improves as kids settle into different rolls. The team we see now will be vastly different then the one we see the last 5-6 games of the regular season.

This game should be pretty ugly. I'd guess something like

Waverly 68
Northwest 38

I agree totally and it's pretty much been as basic as making shots. South Webster would have been a 15-20 point win with a few more made shots and somewhere around 70% FT shooting. Missing 18 of 30 is just uncalled for. Tigers lost at Oak Hill by 15 after missing a ton of shots and not getting back on defense giving the Oaks easy layups. That game could have been very close.
TIGERS WILL GET MUCH BETTER.

Tigers will have no problem in this one I'll say 20 to 30 point win.

I was at the South Webster — Waverly game and didn’t remember Waverly missing 18 free throws.

The official book is here at Valley tonight and it has Waverly 12-23.

Waverly 53 Northwest 44
Northwest had lead in 4th quarter.
Closer game than the 9 points show

Waverly missed way more than 11. They started the game 1-7 and missed a bunch in the second half.

Clayton Howell came up big scoring 16 of his game high 19 in the second half. He hit 3-4 FT’s in the 4th down the stretch while the rest of the team went 4-12 during the closing 2 minutes. Tigers 10-20 for the game.
Easton Wolfe with 11, hitting a big 3 in the 4th.
Tigers held Leslie to 11 points.

The official book is wrong. They absolutely were 12 for 30. It was wretched!
