Shouldn't Athens be playing schools their own size? Maybe they could join the OCC and D1? ;) ;) ;) ;)

Now to get serious, I heard Speakman got hurt the other night for VC? Anyone know how that young man is doing?

Should be a good game. I'll take VC by five if its healthy.

I know one thing, Friday the 23rd is gonna be packed at Jim's gym. The three biggest fans bases are Warren, VC and LE and they are all playing the same night. And believe it or not, Athens has had a real good following this year for some reason

Sounds generic but the team that executes the best will win.

Athens needs to fall behind and struggle in a game this week IMO.

Gun to my head....VC 65 Athens 59

Man I don't know what more Athens has to do to get some RESPECT. Win the last 2 against Alex and Morgan and make it 10 in a Row? I doubt even then they get any. Whatever. We like being the Underdog.

with the way Athens guarded the Vikings in McArthur it'll be interesting to see what coach combs has came up with to counter that extended 2-3 zone. I'm sure he'll have them ready as he always does. Should be a great game, vc by 8

Athens takes the rubber match, Vinton takes the TVC, Athens gets the Convo.

What a millennial way of complaining because 2 people picked against Athens lol

Two people....one picked the 4 seed to beat the 5 seed by 5 and I picked the 4 seed over the 5 by 6.

That’s not disrespect in any way. Nothing on this thread so far has been disrespectful.

I’m going to pick Warren over LE by 10 but have the utmost respect for the LE team and know they could win. I know Athens can win. People are going to side with the program/coach when matchups are tight....this matchup is tight man.

Although Athens has won 8 straight, one thing that has me concerned is the absence of Butcher offensively. He was a big difference maker in game 2 vs Vinton. Last night against Fed, 0 points. He's been spending more time in the paint, and although he is a wide body, he a better outside shooter than anything. He won't be effective underneath facing Damron/Hammon/Griffith. Athens will need to find an offense that gets him loose in space around the perimeter, IMO.

Will be a great game. Vinton has to be favored especially with a D football recruit but it should be a fantastic game.

If all are healthy I will take the Vikings . Yates and Speakman will carry them to the Convo. The Big Sophomore will not be able to move the Big Daddy around and with a healthy Eli they should make it to the second round .

So it is a good thing that they have gone to separate sessions with an admission necessary for each of the 4 sectional championships over the two days in Logan.

VC showed some heart over @ Logan even though the score can be misleading, there’s a lot they could learn from that game. IMO if Speakman plays and adds another 10+, that’s a different ball game. If they play with the same intensity they have in some games this season, for example, Zane Trace, Nelsonville when Speakman went out, Southeastern, etc.. then this could be a good win for them. If they come out ready to play, I think they can easily win this one. However, if they come out slow and not ready to play like the second regular season matchup @ VC or the Chillicothe game, then this could get out of reach for the Vikings.

If I was VC I would see how good of shape the Big boys from Athens are.

If the game was played sooner, say this week I would like Athens by a 8-10, but it is next Friday. Athens I think is better right now, not sure if they will be better by the 23rd.

That is a lot of time for the VC staff to prepare and for them to get any injuries healed up, but I will still take Athens call it 68-62.
