Trojandave: I always respect your opinions ,but; Hiland hasn't won their side of the bracket yet. I'm sure my Indians will make it a game Tuesday and it wouldn't surprise me if they get the upset and move on. Good luck to all who aren't playing the Indians. Have a great day Trojandave.trojandave wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 1:07 pm I watched the Hawks last year in the D3 regional final, and I thought that Fairland had their way with them. Hiland may be better this year, but Coal Grove has played a very strong schedule for a D4 school. They played Fairland twice (regional in D2), D2 Gallia Academy twice (20-4), and D3 Portsmouth twice (16-8). They went 3-3 in those games. They also went to a Christmas tournament down South and did well. If Peebles were to beat Coal Grove, I think they would have a decent shot at winning the regional, but I think the Hornets' physical style of play could pose problems for Hiland.
There's a lot of pressure in a regional final game. The favorite doesn't always win, and it's not a best of 7 series. Just one win away from the state.

Browning has had just two jobs all year. Run the point, play good defense and never come out of the game. He flies under the radar. Coach must have turned him loose a little in the district final game. That game isn't a fluke. Browning has it in his genes. His grandpa was 1st team all state in 1973 and was recruited by Bob Knight for Indiana. Chuck Johnson stayed home and raised a family. Hard nosed Weston Browning will be ready to rock Tuesday night in the Sweet 16.LucasDavenport wrote: ↑Sun Mar 11, 2018 2:47 pmThe Clay v GCC game was late first quarter and I noticed that no one was updating. I made my updating debut that night. That game was amazing.Hoopie74 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 11, 2018 1:49 pmThanks Gold and Blue. I have been a fan of any team from southeastern Ohio since 1969 when I first started getting really involved with basketball. Love our teams and communities. Love the way basketball lovers in this part of the state lift up the area teams. Go Southeastern Ohio. But right now Go Peebles ,Indians. If we drop out I will be in the stands following whoever moves on.Gold and Blue wrote: ↑Sun Mar 11, 2018 11:20 am
Hoopie74 you were a big supporter of our Clay panthers last year in the regional. Now I return the favor good luck and hope to see the Indians in the finals.
Hoopie: I was especially impressed with Browning last night —- had watched him earlier in the season and didn’t notice much. Goodness did he excel on both ends on Saturday vs Green. He made everything go. Arey is special but we knew that. Coal Grove dismantled us yesterday. You guys have more scoring power than we do and perhaps can out score them. They are a different animal though.

If Fairfield Christian somehow beats Hiland, I think the CG/Peebles winner becomes a clear favorite to head to Columbus.

I'll put my Hawks schedule up against Coal Grove anytime this year we have five different teams on our schedule that are in the regionals, lost to Undefeated d-4 Mansfield St.Peters 26-0, 43-51,beat d-2 21-4 John Glenn 52-44,beat 17-8 d-2 Triway 51-33,beat d-3 18-8 Garaway 56-31,beat d-4 19-7 East Canton 48-37, lost to d-2 power house Mentor Lake Catholic 49-65, gave number 3 rank d-4 24-2 River there only two losses 68-53,42-29, beat and lost to top ten d-2 20-4 Indian Valley B 47-39, L 38-42,
Re: Coal grove #1 vs #2 peebles
You realize coal groves losses are to Fairland twice, gallia academy, then turn around and beat them by 21, the #1 ranked (what would be considered d4) team in South Carolina and it was only by 8 I think. And a fluke Ironton loss . . They also beat oak hill who is still playing also . I'd say it's pretty even . .Hawks1112 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 7:50 pm I'll put my Hawks schedule up against Coal Grove anytime this year we have five different teams on our schedule that are in the regionals, lost to Undefeated d-4 Mansfield St.Peters 26-0, 43-51,beat d-2 21-4 John Glenn 52-44,beat 17-8 d-2 Triway 51-33,beat d-3 18-8 Garaway 56-31,beat d-4 19-7 East Canton 48-37, lost to d-2 power house Mentor Lake Catholic 49-65, gave number 3 rank d-4 24-2 River there only two losses 68-53,42-29, beat and lost to top ten d-2 20-4 Indian Valley B 47-39, L 38-42,

Re: Coal grove #1 vs #2 peebles
hahaha! I see now. Coal Grove and Hiland we're both Dlll last year. Thats why both already have their rooms booked for the final 4. Bet your coaches are not looking ahead. Good luck to all. One game at a time in this ,the win or go home.
Re: Coal grove #1 vs #2 peebles
Trust me we are not at looking ahead at all,a 12-14 Fairfield Christian team has pickings for a upset, they have nothing to lose in this game, just like last year with Ross Southeastern got on a roll in the tournament and when we play them regional semis, they scared me, but we got up on them early and rolled from there

Should be some fun games tomorrow in the Convo. My Indians will be there ,laced up and ready for battle. Safe travels.Hawks1112 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 10:01 pm Trust me we are not at looking ahead at all,a 12-14 Fairfield Christian team has pickings for a upset, they have nothing to lose in this game, just like last year with Ross Southeastern got on a roll in the tournament and when we play them regional semis, they scared me, but we got up on them early and rolled from there
Re: Coal grove #1 vs #2 peebles
As much as I hate to say it, I think Peebles will win by 5. Coal Grove will get off to a slow start, and then dig themselves to deep of a hole, then it becomes to little to late. I hope Coal Grove can pull it off though!

Re: Coal grove #1 vs #2 peebles
If Hiland doesn't soundly defeat Fairfield Christian that would be shocking.Hawks1112 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 10:01 pm Trust me we are not at looking ahead at all,a 12-14 Fairfield Christian team has pickings for a upset, they have nothing to lose in this game, just like last year with Ross Southeastern got on a roll in the tournament and when we play them regional semis, they scared me, but we got up on them early and rolled from there
Re: Coal grove #1 vs #2 peebles
Looking forward to a Great game tonight. It would be easy to argue a winning outcome for either team. Both well deserved. Both teams considered by many to be the favorites to meet up at this point and they did. Both teams playing for the memories of being on this stage with nothing to lose. Wishing both teams an injury free game and Great memories.
For my prediction I pick Coal Grove coming out on top 65-58. CG's unselfish team offense will be hard for Peebles to stop but the key is their team defense. There is no doubt Peebles has a fine team and one of the purest shooters I have seen this year in Arey but easy shots will be few and far between. Goal for CG is to get an early lead and let their defense turn Peebles offense into individual scoring attempts. Another key nobody is talking about is Peebles center. Get him into foul trouble and Peebles will not stop CG at all.
Good Luck to both teams and GO BIG GROVE!

Best of luck to both teams tonight. I'll take CG with the win. But wouldn't surprise me either way who wins this
