Moeller 11-7 after 1. This one is a little slower than the first 2 of the day. Might fall asleep ...

Lutheran East was huge deadweight for attendance. A lot of people on the internet HS sports boards in Ohio are dogging on Harvest Prep and Africentric for the low turnout, but that game had more fans in attendance than Deer Park (a closed enrollment public school district) / Lutheran East. It really isn't surprising to me that a small Christian schooll with low-end D4 EMIS and a lottery school didn't bring as many fans (HP/Africentric.) They aren't substitutes for schools whose enrollment best represent the typical D3 school in the first place.

Deer Park isn’t an open enrollment school? 9 of their players are transfers, and their coach makes no apologies about it. None of the starters are from DP.

To clarify the bold: it's not as if he's really bragging about the number of kids being transfers. That team, those players, the coach, even the parents have caught a lot of s--- this year on social media and other message boards, alleging that not all of the players (or even any of them) actually moved into the district. It's not as if the coach is thumbing his nose at everyone; everyone has called them into question, alleging cheating and that the kids are enrolled into Deer Park schools illegally.

They've also been the subject of some downright nasty derision within their own league, the Cincinnati Hills League (CHL). There are eight teams in that league. Half of them (Indian Hill, Madeira, Mariemont and Wyoming) are upper-middle class communities, the "haves"; the other half of them (Deer Park, Finneytown, Reading, and Taylor) are low-middle/working class communities, the "have nots". Reading has a little bit of notable athletic success and Taylor sometimes fields good baseball teams, but other than that the vast majority of sports success (in terms of wins, titles, postseason success etc) is held by those first four schools I mention (IH, MD, MM and WY.) Deer Park could've had only two transfers for basketball and if they won like they did this year with just two, they still would've been flamed and derided by their league members. It is a very ugly situation in Cincinnati. The rich folks choked on the thought that their precious sons could lose to Deer Park and the "city kids" from the very beginning of this season, and they're yelling about it still as they gasp for air.

That's how Moeller and a few schools complete for state championships on a yearly basis. If you like junk ,AAU starts soon.

There are a lot of empty seats in this last semifinal game. Not a lot of fans from either school. The administrators and coaches look like they have called it a night also.

What was up with not being able to park over by the track earlier today?

You would think Moeller would be rooting for Pickerington Central as Solon is #1. But Moeller is playing the Redemption Theme this year after being defeated by Jackson in the Finals. They beat Pickerington Central in the semis in a game that I thought Pickerington Central should have won. Can’t play the Redemption theme vs Pickerington Central.

The last few years we parked for $5 on Olentangy a few blocks south. Walking distance and the buses are a pain after a while.

Adrian Nelson has 21 for Pickerington Central with 6 boards — on 9-10 shooting.
