Waverly had its first scrimmage of the year. At Peebles vs Peebles and Western. Format was 20 minute sessions with running clock. Waverly won all four of its sessions. Looked good. Started five seniors. Very good young players to compliment off the bench. Peebles only returned Brownng and will be very young. Western was also very young but played hard and competed. Hunphreys and Brewster both played well! Peebles beat western in both of their sessions.

I will see you there. Waverly should be one of the top teams around.

Waverly beat Eastern and Zane Trace and lost to South Webster. Jackson league is loaded with Chillicothe, Jackson, Circleville, Logan Elm, Waverly, Zane Trace, Piketon, Athens, South Webster, Eastern, Wellston, Minford, maybe missed a couple. Very competitive. Chillicothe is loaded.. Waverly Zane Trace Eastern. All very good. Didn't see Jackson but I am sure they are good as well.

With the schedule I didn’t get to see Waverly. How’d Trey do?

Knocked down a few shots. He will definitely give solid minutes to varsity. He is going to be phenomenal! You add him to what is already one of the best backcourts in Southern Ohio. Waverly is going to be tough to beat this year.

Jackson League has been fun for the Redstreaks to butt heads with the elite D2 Teams & D1 Chilly Cavs in such a nice facility so close to home.
At half way point we’re .500 while losing to tough D1 Chilly with their big who’s so improved by 4pts after leading much of the game and losing to strong D2 Athens in sudden death. Lost to Jackson on tough call on FT line box out at end.
The Streaks are doing all this down for the summer Little, Nichols, Thacker, & Mathews who are all starter type varsity players. Experience tells us at Piketon summer ball is about finding out your strengths and weaknesses while also discovering who’s gonna compete for you in the winter. Got to challenge yourself and make guys play up.
Don’t get too caught up in wins/losses and scores. It’s more of the eye tests and testing combinations/strategies. We like to think we’ll be right in the mix at the D3 level. Also we finally have some height in 3-4 guys 6-3 & taller. We won’t have to start 6-0 center...LOL!
I know we’ve played LOTS of young talent including a couple games where we played only JV type players.
Then at Rio Team Camp we went 3-1 on Friday while continuing to look at a lot of these young guys since were without so many varsity guys due to injury playing near 12 players every game.
This is first time in several years the injury bug has gotten us so hopefully we get them out of the way in the summer. On the other hand the injuries & summer normal absences has provided lots of PT for many guys. We’ve had great turnouts of players. At our Piketon Team Camp early June we had over 30 players attend.
It’s been all good except hate to see young guys have to sit due to injury.
We’ll finish out Jackson League and then the rest of the summer with strong open gyms.
Hope everyone has a great summer as December comes quickly.
Here Comes the Streaks!

jackson has been great last 3 summers, but can't put it all together during the season. We'll see
