With football season coming to an end last night it is officially Chillicothe basketball season, that being said here is my outlook on things to come.

First off it will be hard to replace Brandon Maughmer but chillicothe has a very nice Answer for replacing Brandon and that is his little big brother Jayvon the 6'5 junior 2 guard is making waves in the AAU circuit and has already received a few offers he is rangy and has all the tools to be one of the best in the area, Along with jayvon there is 6'8 big man Brandon Noel this kid can flat out play ball he has gotten stronger and more comfortable in the post over the past year and is also a knock down shooter. Add in the X factor for this team 5'7 pg Tre beard who is pound for pound the most skilled and talented of the bunch, Vincent Roper the 6'1 slasher and lock down defender and this group of juniors could be prone to make a run the like Chillicothe hasn't seen since 2008

They’ll be solid this year! My son played on that AAU team this past season and the Maughmer kid is amazing. Hard to describe how easy he makes it look. Also couldn’t ask for a better PG to be running that squad than Beard. Very skilled ball handler and a knock down shooter but the most impressive thing about Maughmer, Beard, and Noel is how patient they are with the offense and how unbelievably unselfish they are. 3 very smart and very skilled players. Be pulling for u guys this year! Good luck!

I don’t know if they’ll be able to make a really deep run this year like Ohio said, but if they drop back to D2 next year, then I completely agree.

This should be a really fun team to watch and I hope that the community backs them and fills the Hat every time they are in town. Beard and Maughmer are not only great basketball players, but awesome young men as well (they are the only ones I know, so the others likely are as well)

I’m excited to see them on 12/4 at Zane Trace.

Chillicothe will an outstanding SEOhio TEAM this season AGAIN ... not replacing what Will/Simon Roderick, Brandon Maughmer, Jason Benson, brought to the floor for Coach Huffer - excellent TEAM ... the 2018-19 Edition of the Cavs will need to make it's own mark - Jayvon Maughmer WILL BE special (only a junior) 6-5 with an outstanding all around game ... every TEAM needs a floor general Tre Beard IS that player - shoots lights out, distributes the ball, handles pressure everything a PG has to do for TEAM ... need for size - Brandon Noel adds that component in the paint - didn't have to be an offensive juggernaut last season BUT will need to take up the slack defensively and be a consistent double digit scorer every night out ... I have been impressed by this Cavs junior class as an entire group since they were freshmen - now with the opportunity to be BACK together again as a TEAM - I see "special" as a word I would use to describe the CAVS this season AND next ...

... always tough to decide how the Cavs will perform in the post season as they - like Logan - have to take their talent to the Central District Party in the one and done season ... as daniC pointed out deep runs in the tournament by a SEDistrict team are difficult BUT should the Cavs crossover to D2 next season - it will make for some big time games at the Convo next year - Warren, Logan Elm, Chillicothe(should that drop happen) , Unioto, Chesapeake, Jackson, ZT, Washington CH , FU, VC ... sorry I'm getting excited for 2 years away already ! LOL

I'm a big fan of what Coach Huffer and his staff do at Chilli ... fundamentals/defense + special players + quality coaching = good things to happen !
