2018/2019 Waverly Tigers

Waverly football in the playoffs for the third year in a row (first ever) and hopefully that continues another week. Many of the basketball players have had great success on the football field to the tune of a 9-1 regular season and trip to Cincinnati Indian Hill this Saturday...

We have time to talk about the basketball team and who returns, who are the newcomers coming in and such.

A lot of upgrades to the Downtwon Arena have taken place and will finish up over the course of the next couple weeks.
I would love to post photos but have had trouble figuring out how. CAN SOMEONE HELP?

Tough to lose Landon Hoover. That’s a great kid and really good basketball player.

The positive is that they will still have a wealth of solid to really good guards and will be able to pressure all over the court. The only question mark might be who will pick up more of the scoring slack from Adrian and Howell...but I think that was the question before last year too and they answered it fairly easily.

At the very least, I expect them to be really fun to watch and get back to the Convo. I hope they get through the playoffs healthy and are ready to go when the season tips.

Tigers will have Easton Wolfe back for his Senior campaign. That was a TD by the way...

I heard that as well. The coaches want him to, but he wants to hit the weight room and bulk up a bit which is hard to do with all the running in basketball. I bet he would be a tenacious defender.

Yes, I heard he really gets after it on defense - would be great with Remington and Marquez causing havoc.
I was just talking to someone about football for next year and the need for the guys to add some weight and strength. Shoe will be even tougher to deal with if he adds 10-15 pounds along with strength and even faster.

I don’t want to miss anybody and there may be a few others come out but I think its safe to say here is most of the varsity roster:
Cody Remington (12)
Cobe Marquez (12)
Easton Wolfe (12)
Ethan Dunn (12)
Trevor Penrod (12)
Tanner Smallwood (11)
Phoenix Wolfe (10)
Haydn Shanks (10)
Zeke Brown (10)
Gage Wheeler (10)
Trey Robertson (9)
Will Futhey (9)

Not sure about Zach Brown and the timeframe of his recovery.

Too bad the junior class is down to just 1 player. The playing time funnel gets narrow and makes it a hard decision to commit to playing.
