Jackson 61
Bloom Carroll 54

Yates 17 (5 3’s)
Wallis 12
Cooper D 10
Davis 7
Hammond 6
Caden D 4
Graham 5

Ironmen were up 30-15 at one point but then trailed 34-33. Perimeter defense struggled for portions of the game and Bloom really moved the ball well and hit 3’s. Their defense was solid and made it tough on Cooper Donaldson. Nevan Yates hit a bunch of shots and was very good on help side in that first half. Great first game kid....welcome to Jackson (winter edition)...Caleb Wallis was excellent and the go to in putting the game away...nails on his 2 sets of one on ones with 30 seconds left. Some nice assists and rebounds.Cooper hit a few big shots and had several big rebounds in traffic. Caden Donaldson and Braxton Hammond were great on defense and active everywhere. When they are in at same time our defense is pretty long and tough. Both had excellent games. Treylan Davis a big 7 points in the first half. Brice Graham gave a spark off the bench chipping in 5 points. TJ Byrd and Matt Humphreys both battled in their time on the floor.

Good first win. Had a 15 point lead but a little careless with the ball and then slow to the perimeter on defense and BOOM, all gone. That’s gotta improve. Waverly ended our season last year in similar fashion. Keep the pedal to the metal and value every possession.

Good win for Jackson. A TON to work on. Need to hedge screens or switch when getting shot out ofbthe gym. Have to know the scouting report and who to close out hard on. Also need a ton of work on entry passes to the post when the big has guy pinned and the play and looked like gameplan was to utilize their size. Bigger Donaldson pressed way too much and needs to let the game come to him. Acted like he expects to score 30 a game and thats not how they will win a bunch of games. Wallis appears much more in control this year compared to last. Was super solid and a calming force when the lead was lost. The Yates kid for sure will keep the lane open for Davis, Donaldson, and Braxton to use their size. Davis needs some more touches inside.
