Gonna be some good team not advancing to the Convo this year.this years D3 Sectionals will be like most years district matchups! About a month until the draw. It's coming.

Once again we have the much better Jackson bracket. I would much rather see some of the better teams evened out to get better games at the convo.

Would love to see the Southeast District Board go with a Super Sectional, distributing these teams to the two locations depending on seeding.

Probably the exact same four teams in the regional. Garaway and Harvest Prep look loaded again. Burg looks tough. Oak Hill is hard to beat in the tournament

Garaway may have there hands full with Meadowbrook this year, since they drop down to D-3 this season

Waverly does have really good PG play and Southeastern showed 2 years ago that it can take you a long way in the tournament.

Jackson is much deeper though and all 4 sectional title games should be pretty fun to watch

Jackson sectional looks to be better, however I believe there are some teams in the Waverly sectional that the teams records are deceiving. Some of them are better than their record. Just my opinion

Predictions as of January 9th on how I think they'll be seeded (records are not updated from last night's games)

Jackson

#1 Wheelersburg (9-0)
#2 Eastern Pike (9-1)
#3 Alexander (8-1)
#4 Ironton (7-3)
#5 Fairland (5-4)
#6 Oak Hill (8-2)
#7 Chesapeake (7-2)
#8 South Point (4-3)
#9 Nelsonville York (5-6)
#10 Meigs (4-7)
#11 Crooksville (4-6)
#12 Minford (2-8)
#13 Rock Hill (3-6)
#14 Belpre (3-8)
#15 Wellston (2-6)

Waverly Sectional

#1 Western (9-2)
#2 Adena (8-3)
#3 North Adams (8-2)
#4 Eastern Brown (7-2)
#5 Paint Valley (6-5)
#6 Portsmouth (5-5)
#7 West Union (6-5)
#8 Portsmouth West (5-5)
#9 Piketon (6-7)
#10 Valley (4-7)
#11 Huntington Ross (3-8)
#12 Southeastern (3-10)
#13 Lynchburg Clay (2-8)
#14 Northwest (1-8)

5-8 seeds at Jackson are very dangerous. 5-7 seeds at Waverly would be equally as dangerous.

Wheelersburg is the clear best D3 team in SE Ohio and then there's an abundance of really solid teams with not much separating them.

The Jackson sectional is definitely stronger, and could produce both district champions. Wheelersburg, Ironton, Fairland, Eastern Pike, Oak Hill, and Alexander are all capable of winning a district title, while I think Chespeake will be competitive with anyone.

At Waverly, Western, North Adams, Adena, and Eastern Brown are clearly the best 4 of that sectional, but most likely will be underdogs vs. the Jackson sectional winners. Very possible, though, of pulling off an upset.

As far as my Trojans, I think we may headed to #9 as bbjunky81 has predicted. The lack of outside shooting other than Matthew Fraulini has made the Trojans a very offensively challenged squad. In the tournament, games are more half court oriented and that doesn't suit Portsmouth well at all. If Portsmouth ends up at #9, it will be the lowest seed that I can ever remember a Trojan team at Waverly. I still would give us a chance against a higher seed, but I'm not as confident about it as the season progresses.

I would like to see the Trojans get a rematch with West, which I thought was Portsmouth's poorest performance of the season.

This year’s D-III tournament should be a great tournament. There are a number of very good teams. Wheelersburg is by far the best D-III team in southern Ohio. I believe they could (and should) win the Region. I have seen Harvest Prep on tape and they are very good but Wheelersburg’s guard play is good enough to beat them.

Two teams I don’t believe are getting enough credit are Alexander and Western. Alexander is a one loss team and Western is a two loss team. Both teams have very good guard play and very good big men in the middle. Eastern Pike is good but so are Ironton, Fairland and Peake. The D-III tournament should be a lot of fun this year for the common fan.

Agree on Alex and Western. Good points on the other teams as well. Should be some good basketball coming very soon!
