Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
The no call on the goaltend and fouls was the diffence in this game and it was obvious. Burg picks up its 2nd foul in the first half with 1 minute to go in the game? Mason darby fouls out with just under 3 minutes left. So at one point the total fouls was burg 4 and darby alone 5.
Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
Oak hill fans complaining about officiating, how ironic. Ever watched a game at Oak Hill?
Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
Having played for him you do respect him. Opponents only see his sideline antics but are unaware of how great he is in practice and off the court. Yes he scream and cusses but it’s only bc he wants us to succeed and win so bad. Never met a man who wants it more then Norm. Much respect for that man. As for the game. Great game. Missed calls yes. Goaltending? Yes. I believe most refs never see plays like that at the high school level and will miss calls like that, especially in southern Ohio. It was the trailing ref at half courts call to make and he didn’t. Did it lose is the game? No, players and coaches lose games. Too many missed layups that were in and out all night or the Oaks may have pulled off the upset. As for the foul count. I don’t like make up calls to even out the fouls count which sometimes happens in games, Everyone has seen it but 9-1? That’s a bit bizarre when OH isn’t a jump shooting team and Darby and Hammond live in the post and have ppl hanging off them almost every possession. So for it to be that far apart is mind boggling. I’ll repeat, refs don’t win or lose games. But tonight that was a bad crew. I’ve saw a lot of bad crews this year. Most ppl stop reffing bc of stuff that happened tonight which is sad. Burg fans y’all have a great team and I truly enjoy this rivalry. Having watched and played in this game is special. Enjoy the ride y’all are gonna have this year. Hope to see you at the Schott. Good luck against anybody other then my Oaks.

Darby should have fouled out way earlier or at least been in foul trouble earlier with as many times as he led with a swinging forearm.Gooaks wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 9:50 pm The no call on the goaltend and fouls was the diffence in this game and it was obvious. Very classy post. Good luck to the Oaks in the remainder of the season and the tourney.SOC94 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 10:00 pm Having played for him you do respect him. The fact that there’s so much chatter about the officials seems to be a bit intriguing.
Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
Bit of a funny side note. I’ve saw norm, with my own eyes or had been playing, get 3 techicals the entire time I’ve known him and this crew has given him 2 of the 3.
Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
Probably because they aren’t afraid of them. No one wants to listen to that. You wouldn’t let that go down at a place like Walmart. This crew has had several convo games and I think one got a state game. The fouls were 7 to 1 before Oak Hill had to foul.

Oh god that crew is awful. Just shows officials are the good ole boy system
Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
Convo, state game, idc we can argue till we are blue in the face but I didn’t like this crew when I was in school and they are still just as bad.
Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
I’m not trying to argue against you. I’m just saying I’ve seen them up there.
Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
No problem Woby, think Ohio has a problem with lack of good refs. But having seen what refs deal with I don’t blame them for hanging up the whistle.

I was able to listen to the game on the radio and yes the announcers thought it was goaltending, but one play like that shouldn't cost you a game. Didn't OH cut it to at least three maybe even one after that? Sounds like after reading on here OH had the chances just couldn't put it in.
I started listening at the start of the third qtr. and heard that Holden only had one point at half. That must have been some strong defense by the Oaks or did Holden just not shoot much in the first half?

Yes they do. The one ref that called the Burg-Jackson game on Tuesday called two of the worst fouls on Holden that I've ever witnessed and he has always picked on the Burg's star players for the last 20 years.SOC94 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 10:35 pmNo problem Woby, think Ohio has a problem with lack of good refs. Raider, how do you know crew it was, you were at Vinton County watching your Bullpuppies fall to 1-4 v DII competition. No worries though, you get several more small schools to pick on down the stretch. And love it when you comment about officiating and were not even at the game.Raider6309 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 10:25 pmOh god that crew is awful. Just shows officials are the good ole boy system

My gawd, blame the officials! Your team just isn’t that good, so let’s blame someone. I’ve got $200 says you couldn’t do a full season of basketball, probably quit and run to mommy.

Re: Wheelersburg vs Oak Hill, 1/18/19
Because Holden never fouls, just ask him! Every time it’s called on him he acts like he’s 12 and is all animated. I’m sure if this officiating thing was so easy a stud muffin athlete like yourself would put down his cheeseburger and pick up a whistle. But that would require some like real effort.yabbadabbadoo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 10:44 pmYes they do.
