Western Pike (12-4) 48 @ Eastern Pike (15-1) 50 Final

Post by beaverlover »

Western coming off a surprising and disappointing loss to SV and Eastern riding momentum of 2 big wins over Green and Eastern Brown in 2ot in a game they actually trailed by 12 in second half. Cochenour has been playing very good basketball lately, led team in scoring with 14 at Green and carried Eastern offensively in second half of vs EB, ended up with 25..if he continues playing like this to go along with Miller, Leist and Weaver the Eagles are hard to beat... always tough to beat a team 3 times..especiallly a good team like the Indians.. these teams and coaches know each other so well and both of the previous games were good ones..I'd say we see more of the same this Friday.

Eastern Pike just won a couple road games against two pretty good teams. They may not have played as well as they are capable of playing in either game. I know this is the 3rd game this year against Western, Being at Eastern I'll take EP to win the 3rd game this year over Western.

This should be good one. With the Eagles having the advantage at home, with a week long break, and everyone healthy, I look for the Eagles to take care of business in the Nest.

... it still keeps weighing in the back of my mind "it's hard to beat a team 3 times" ... should be a great game @ Eastern Pike ... I listened to the Eastern Pike vs Eastern Brown game Saturday at North Adams ... Hunter Cochenour is in a good spot offensively for the Eagles - 25 points last Saturday vs a defense minded EB team ... IF Coachenour has stepped up his perimeter shooting (more consistency) THAT in itself makes Eastern Pike more dangerous/better all around TEAM ...(Cochenour)outside scoring threat/consistency + Miller/Weaver inside + Leist (3 point scoring/dribble penetration/finishing at the rim/assists to the bigs) = a pretty darn good TEAM going into the final 1/2 of the regular season & the post season ...

Up until Friday’s lost to Symmes Valley, I was picking the Indians to beat Eastern. I wasn’t even considering it a big upset since the only team that Western had lost to was Eastern and I believe both those games were close. I wonder what happened against SV. I still think Western has as much talent as anybody in that league. I think Western will bounce back.

The SV game was taken out of Western’s “BIG” 3’s hands. It was more on the supporting cast to get it done and it was to little to late. Lane Brewster fouled out with 5:30 left in the 4th Broc Jordan and Alex Humphrey had 4 fouls the entire 4th quarter. Western didn’t make the plays to win down the stretch.

Eastern and Western should be a barn burner. With hopefully the Indians bouncing back with a win!

I agree with Pfloyd and I too keep thinking, "It's hard to beat a team three times", but one also had to consider how Western must feel knowing they are once again facing a team that has already placed two tick marks in the Loss column for them already. That can have just as big or even bigger impact on the mental approach to the game as well.

Since the game is at the Eagle's Nest, I am going to predict that boys from Beaver will come out and put on a show for the Homecoming crowd. With that being said, I am going to say Eastern wins 76 - 62. The Eagle's are gelling and if Hunter can continue finding double digit offensive contributions, the Eagles will be a completely different team than Western has faced previously. I know both teams have improved, but I honestly feel the Eagles are peaking at the right time and will be hard to beat in this one.

Good Luck Eagles!

This will likely be another tough battle. You have excellent players on the court and top coaches on the sidelines. Overall advantage in guard play I give to Western with the combination of Brewster and Humphrey. Advantage inside with Miller and Weaver goes to the Eagles. If Western shoots well I will not be shocked at all if they beat Eastern. If they do not, Eastern will win.

Good luck to Coach Fitch and the Indians!

I agree Western is going to have to shoot well in order to pull out this one and not beating them for 2 years since Perdue and B.Brewster were there they may have the mental edge being at Eastern. With all that aside though I have a feeling the Indians will be ready to play for this one, and as pfloyd said its hard to beat a team 3 times. I'm taking Western by 5. Good luck to both teams!

I have to agree Hoggy. The Eagles were already a handful before Hunter got going. I can only imagine the space they are creating inside now that teams are having to close out against a hot shooter. It should make things much easier for Miller to work inside and also for Leist to get to the rim. The Tigers are playing Valley, but I'm strongly thinking of making the trip to the east side instead for this one!

Western jumped out to a 12-5 lead. Eagles outscored the Indians 18-8 rest of half. Brewster leads Western with 9 points. Michael Miller was in foul trouble (2fouls) and was held scoreless in first half. Weaver has 6 Points for Eastern.
