Schools: Alexander, Belpre, Chesapeake, Crooksville, Eastern (Beaver), Fairland, Ironton, Meigs, Minford, Nelsonville-York, Oak Hill, Rock Hill, South Point, Wellston, Wheelersburg. (15)

Seems to me there is going to be a few really good basketball teams not going to the Convo this year. Yikes

There are probably 7 teams at this sectional that would be the best team at Waverly.

Good stuff on that bracket!

Way cool.

Thanks

If Alexander beats Oak Hill tonight, and then Athens on Friday, could they jump Fairland into the No. 3 spot?

How many times have you seen Adena play this year?

I would guess the Lucasville game. Which is the only bad loss that Adena has and Adena has improved greatly since then.

No doubt about that. They looked awful that night. They have looked really good many times since

That is it.

That said I would take:

Wheelersburg
Eastern
Fairland
Alexander
Ironton
Chesapeake
Oak Hill

Against Adena today. That may change in a few weeks, but right now that is just my opinion. Which means squat.

I know there will be some different matchups then the mockup bracket but if it's close there will be some dandy 2nd round matchups to get to the convo. Especially in the Jackson Sectional. Ony 4 teams advancing. Someone with a good season will be dusting off the running shoes or gloves a little early.

Duly noted...I haven’t seen ANY of those teams this year so I will take Adena by double digits over all of them. LOL

Oak Hill's 50-48 win over Alexander last night sure makes this thing even more interesting.

Spartans really need the win over Athens Friday!

I'm pretty sure the Jackson sectional had 15 teams a few years back in which the district only allowed 1 bye. This paired 2-15, 3-14 and so forth. Not that it changes your mock bracket all that much just thought I'd throw it out there. I'm in agreement with many posters that this is the year probably above any that a super sectional would've been great to have. The Waverly sectional is noticeably weaker in my opinion. Even given the season Adena has had they probably would be 4 or 5 in a super sectional behind 3-4 of the Jackson side. That being said I also believe this could be a year that you see a double digits seed mess around and get hot and play at the convo. Just an example with Portsmouth skid of late and the weaker Waverly bracket if Fraulini gets hot and hangs up 40 they could find their way to Athens out of a 9-11 seed.

You are right. This happened in 2017 D-III. The Waverly Sectional had 15 teams. I'll adjust to reflect.

Wheelersburg And Fairland are better than Adena.

Eastern and Adena would be a toss up.

Adena is better than the others. I’ve been fortunate to see these teams this year. Ironton would scare me if I was an Adena fan much more than Oak hill or Alex

There’s no way Chesapeake is better than Adena.

Just curious how you can put Fairland ahead of Eastern when Eastern beat them on a neutral court. Can’t even claim home cooking or anything like that.

I assume that your question is directed at LucasDavenport. But I'll give some things to support the argument for Fairland over Eastern.
  • Game was early in the season, by 2 pts in OT. Fairland plays a much tougher schedule. Fairland has more quality wins.
I'm not saying I would or wouldn't, at this point, put Fairland ahead of Eastern. But I think you could argue for Fairland ahead of Eastern with those points.

Eastern with a nice win over Africentric. Just like playing against an AAU team. Boys from Beaver playing well. Still puzzling that Fairland is better even though they lost heads up matchup on neutral court. Doesn’t really matter at this point in season. Tournament time is win or go home and a few teams are playing well.
