Got a break by avoiding the Dragons?

I honestly believe either Alex/Fairland are equal ... or Alex is better. Better PG play, better C. Wings are bout even.

Really good game. Both these teams deserve to be at convo. Tough sectional!
Brutal sectional! Would love to see a few of the Jackson teams over at the Waverly sectional.

This year proves yet again that the SE lags way behind the other districts by refusing to have a Super Sectional

Unbiased wrote: Sat Feb 23, 2019 9:27 pm I will say that Fairland has played a bad game, but I don’t see how Alexander is able to have 1 foul in the 2nd half. Then refs miss a crucial kick ball and walk that would’ve given Fairland the ball back late. Not good. Alexander played a great game though. Wheelersburg got a big break by dodging the Dragons.
Is it over?

WOW!! Great job Spartans. People said TVC-Ohio was down and below average teams. Mainly a poster VCGRAD. Well let’s see here. Meigs goes toe to toe with 22-0 Wheelersburg #3 in the State and loses 35-28. VC goes toe to toe with Warren and loses 61-55. Athens wins and going to the Convo over LE-Athens also beat Chesapeake this year who just upset Eastern Pike who was like 21-1. Alex upsets Fairland and going to the CONVO. Smoke on that Haters!! And you VCGRAD you are a Douche Bag. And are eating CROW right now. I love it.

Great season by Coach Speed with a team that lost nearly everyone.

Great showing by Alexander....they are a strange and tough matchup.

darn it must be upset Saturday! First EP goes down now Fairland and Burg nearly was upset yesterday and all 3 of these teams should have won handily. Burg couldn't hit water falling out of a boat and EP I heard had way to many turnovers and have no clue what happened to Fairland but anyway I do know that the Jackson sectionals were brutal and Jackson's gym has always been a tough shooting gym for whatever reason and good luck to the winning teams the rest of the way

I will have to respectfully disagree. If you believe those then you have obviously not seen Fairland enough to judge them. I firmly believe that the Dragons have a much better PG in Freshman Aiden Porter. Tonight was not his night, he is and will be phenomenal though. Had 21 points on Dublin Coffman. I also heard that this was Alex’s C best game of the year by far from several sources. I may be wrong, opinions are opinions. I just know that the Dragons were not the Dragons tonight. Hopefully Alexander is able to make a run

Congrats Alex. Alexander was definitely the far better team. Good luck at the Convo

Alexander 51
Fairland 49
overtime
Didn't get the score, but got the pick.
I felt from the second the seeding came out Alexander had a chance to make it to the Convo. Those saying Fairland should win easily were/are dead wrong. The Spartans are a good team that played a very, very difficult schedule full of D2 teams.

I’ve seen both teams twice and Jackson has faced both. Kearns is better than Porter this year. Porter will be a 1st team all-District player probably a couple times. I do agree you can’t jusge Fairland just by their showing tonight.

I also think Coach Kearns gets a bad rap.

Caleb Terry has had better games.
He just scored 14 and had 6 blocks in the semis the other night, scored in the 20's a few times throughout the year.

Alexander played D2 Athens twice, both good games
They played at D2 Warren
They played D2 Jackson
They played D2 Vinton twice
They played at D1 Chillicothe

They crushed Minford at Minford, played at Oak Hill and a solid Trimble team ranked in the top 10 D4.

There schedule prepared them for that game vs Fairland

I threw up when you tried to mention Trimble like that..

Yes, “technically” they are ranked in the state.... but they are NOT a top 10 D4 team in Ohio. Period. You and I both know that. Heck, Howie would tell you that. They did get some respect from voters due to the name and previous success, but Coal Grove is 15+ points better than Trimble and didn’t receive a single vote in D4.

With that said, I do think Alexander is solid and DOES play a tough schedule. But beating a down Trimble team (talent wise you and I know they are way down, just exceptionally coached in an insanely weak TVC Hocking) isn’t something I’d brag about on the resume for a D3 team.

I also think Kearns is a top 3 coach in all of the TVC, only behind Howie and Combs in my book.

Why can't you give a little credit where credit is due ? That's why they say "Win", or go "Home". Mayby it wasn't your night, but just mayby Alexander had something to do with that. If I were dominated the way you were in the second half, I would just say Congrats Alexander.

Ok ok ok

Using AP ranking to better a resume is not wise. But, at the end of the day, Trimble is a good ball club that is (17-3) on the year. With a quality win over Alexander.
