... The game vs LE was Jackson's best of the day defensively ... LE was down 2 starters to injuries BUT Jackson played well in that matchup - as we know LE is size challenged ... Jackson lost to Logan in overtime - the first team to score got the W ... Logan stole a pass on the perimeter and took it to the house for the W ... the Ironmens' worst defensive effort of the day for sure ... JHS hangs their hat on solid, in your face D - they didn't have it vs Logan ...

Logan has a lot of work to do to become a TEAM ... lots of quickness, basketball talent but little to no varsity experience and it shows ... trying to do what they could get away with in JV ball - lots of dribbling ... not used to the strength at the varsity level in the paint - they will improve ! ... the Chiefs will struggle vs opponents with size /multiple players with size ... Logan has 1 player with size at 6-6ish ... LHS is a work in progress as only 2 players had varsity minutes last year - Tegan Myers and Justin Wolfe both PT being limited minutes at the varsity level ... the rest of the team none ... OJT for sure this season ...

I had to work most of the day today at the school but managed to see Logan, Oak Hill, Wheelersburg play ... Logan again is a work in progress - the Purple got beat soundly by Wheelersburg ... the Pirates will be a solid team this season - Miller, Truit, McCorkle as the anchors ... strong, on the boards, quick defensively AND they play with an attitude ... might not be Elite 8 in the pre-season but they aren't far out of the mix imo ... Coach Persin's Oak Hill boys will be a very good team this coming season ! -Drew Hanning is as good as anyone in the paint, on the boards, getting his shot in the paint AND he has a motor that doesn't stop ... Hanning , Hammond will lead the way for OHHS ... the Oaks under Coach Norm will be just fine - disciplined, TEAM oriented, solid D, crash the boards, solid fundamentals AGAIN ... I look for the Oaks to move up the rankings all season ... chatted with Coach Persin between games a couple of times today - Coach is a winner, you don't win 900+ games if you don't know the game of basketball, know what it takes to make your team into a TEAM - Norm does it the right way ... thanks Coach Persin for taking the time to chat with pfloyd today - always good to see you ...

You should have stuck around for Oak HIll's final game, Coach Norm was not in the chatting mood! But you are right, the big kid for Oak Hill did play hard and played at a high level.

Who is the big kid for Oak Hill ? What's his name, and how big is he ?

... VetteMan ... OHHS's big this coming season is Drew Hanning ... looks probably 6-4ish maybe 6-5 ... he reminds me a lot physically of Kyle Sexton from New Boston ... Sexton is more of a perimeter scorer/can go inside ... while Hanning is nonstop motion inside ... gets the ball on the perimeter and takes you inside,or gets the ball low on the blocks ... scores both sides of the bucket with either hand, not sure of his perimeter scoring ... there isn't anyone that will out work Hanning physically - he's a beast ... but again Hanning and Sexton are very similar physically ... Hanning is a senior this coming season while Sexton will be a only a junior ... Coach Persin said that Hanning was going to Las Vegas either this week or next to participate in a sponsored All Star game of some type ...

Hammond is Oak Hills post player.

Hanning is their wing player.

Both are good players and both are seniors.

I heard Wheelersburg went 5-0 on the day did anybody get a see who they played or how they looked. Obviously if they went undefeated they must’ve played pretty well against some good competition up there. just wondering if anybody had any specifics on them

They played Delaware Hayes, I believe Marietta, and as Pfloyd said, Logan. Not sure of what their last game was

Thank you! I'm pretty sure that Hammond is the younger brother of Luke Hammond, who was quite a good player for Oak Hill a few years ago. He also has an older sister that played for the Thundering Herd in Huntington a few years ago, and unless I'm wrong, is the all time leading scorer for the Lady Oaks, as well as leading the team to the State Finals.

... noreply , when we went thru on a tour of the facility during the HH Shootout ... the intent is it MUST be done by the 16 team Volleyball tourney this month ... they were waiting on the flooring to arrive (which was said to be on the mainland as of the time of the shootout taking place the 24,25 of June - an any day now situation on it's arrival) ... I haven't looked to see when the Volleyball multiple day tourney is in July ...

...that's all I know ...

... heard the other day that the Volleyball tourney/showcase would be at the high school not the Chieftain Center as anticipated ... we'll see as we get closer whether it's the main high school or the CC ...

The floor or the cement continues to be the issue. It has to reach a certain level of humidity in the concrete for it to be able to maintain the flooring on top of it. That's what has been the hold up and for that facility and the money invested I would want it to be perfect as do the powers that be. They aren't going to rush it.
