Yes, only because of his overall athletic ability.
What is your definition of a "basketball player"?
Someone who's primary focus in athletics and life is advancing their basketball game. Football seems to be more prevalent in Futhey's situation. McCorkle only really focuses his talents into basketball
Football is his primary focus at this point in his career, I can agree with that. But to say he isn't a basketball players because he is getting more college looks at football instead of basketball is silly IMO. He played AAU last summer, so he obviously has an interest in improving his game. He did, or was very close, to averaging a double-double as a Sophomore. Seems like a pretty good basketball player to me.

Then there are not many basketball players out there.

Semantics a bit. I see it both ways.

Regardless he’s very good and formidable on the basketball court

A couples sophomores could contribute depending on how they come along between now and then.

Saul Goodman mentioned the possibility of a transfer coming in. Not going to say a whole lot about that until it happens. If it happens it could be HUGE.
Anytime someone acts like they know insider information it makes us all so curious! Wish someone could drop a hint, maybe give us a team or conference the player is currently in?? ;)

I would imagine it's a young man that is not currently in a local conference but has been AAU teammates with a couple Waverly players for about a decade now. If it is him, watch out. He is a true talent.

I expect two intense games between Burg and Waverly next season. Both return a lot of talent. Right now I give the edge to The Pirates.

I agree with that, Burg is the slight favorite since they won it this year and return everyone. Only fair to give them the nod until proven otherwise. Both teams will have their shot at the league once again.

Being a reader of SEOPS for years, I’ve decided to finally create an account.
As my first post, I’d love to know how anyone could say McCorkle is better than Futhey. The debate could easily be ended by watching both Burg/Waverly games. Futhey and Waverly’s bigs dominated on the glass. If I remember correctly, @Burg Futhey had 16 & 16 while McCorkle struggled to make layups. While Futhey is a raw player, and an outstanding football talent, it should have no reflection on his standing as a basketball player.

Having seen Futhey once and McCorkle twice, I’d take Futhey about 3:1

I mean they’re both good. But Futhey gets the nod

Does he concentrate on basketball enough?

Some are looking for "basketball players"

Funny right? Didn't know if you were getting D1 looks at one sport, you were no longer considered a player at another.

McCorkle is a better basketball player. Futhey in the first game had I think 3 threes. Also. Waverly ran a lot of 1-3-1 in first game. Burg struggled to adjust.

It’s not a hard debate in my opinion

Why do people look at numbers? Burg has 5 players that can score. Waverly has two. Futhey and Robertston. Point production for burg is a lot more balanced. Just watching them play lets me know McCorkle is the better basketball player.

So numbers mean absolultey nothing? Wrong.

Numbers aren't everything, I definitely agree with that. It is just one of many measuring tools used to evaluate player. Many factors go in to determining how good a player is.

They mean nothing to me. Did Robertston have a night this year where he had under 15 points? If he did, am I supposed to believe he’s not as good as what people say?

When I asked what his numbers were I meant average. Not just looking at one or two games. And like I said, numbers aren't everything. There are many factors that go into evaluating a player, anyone that knows basketball knows this. But looking at stats is one of these factors. I genuinely was curious of his season averages since I am unaware of what they may be.

I have no idea what his numbers are but I’m pretty sure he’s averaging a double double
