The 1st Annual Spartans Alley Classic - a success ...

Post by pfloyd »

... What a great day of hoops action at Alexander High School - the Spartan Alley Classic ... and what WILL BE the "annual" Spartan Alley Classic!!! high school basketball fans mark it down Saturday Dec.17th the 6 game format boys varsity games at Alexander High School ... coaches & ADs!!! block out Saturday the 17th of Dec - quality teams Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line should be HOPING they get "the call" to play in this event as it will just get better and better each year ... Great job by Coach Skinner, the volunteers, Fran , Lou Horvath on the PA, Randy Dillinger on the official napkins stat book - ALL of those who had a hand in putting on the SHOW - outstanding job ... I know I felt welcome as soon as I got in the door!!! 6 games, hospitality room, great fans, coaches from all over SEO in attendance - just a great day of high school basketball ... well done by all at Alexander High School - as a fan of hoops I thank you - pfloyd ...

.., pfloyd didn't roll in to AHS until game one was into the 1st quarter, by the time I stopped talked to folks - napkin stats for the 1st game between Wheelersburg and one time SEOAL member Point Pleasant WVa was well on it's way with the Pirates of Coach Ater handing it to PPHS ... the Orange & Black were controlling every facet of the game - Josh Clark was awarded the Wheelersburg Player of the Game honors ...

Wheelersburg 80
Point Pleasant WVa 45 a final

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Parkersburg South 74
Hurricane 35 a final

... the 2nd game was a matchup of "foreign" teams Parkersburg South vs Hurricane Wva ... the Patriots of Parkersburg South come off of beating Logan High School last week 65-52 at PSHS ... the Hurricane Redskins entered the game at 1-2 on the season with 6-11 Gabe Beny Till in the middle ... asking around , the Redskins were down a starter due to injury Nas'Jaih Jones who had a 15 point outing in the HHS game on Friday ... not sure it would have made a difference as the Patriots who play "94 foot pressure D for 32 minutes" were never behind in this one , taking the 1st quarter 14-12 behind Austin Mooney's 5 points including a triple, another 3 pointer from Riley Street, 2 points each from Caleb Schaffer/Devin Hershberger/ 2 FTs from Cyrus Traugh ... for the Redskins of Hurricane the 6-11 Till had 5 points ( a deuce and 3 FTs) , a 3 from Dillon Tingler (3 pts) 2 a piece from JT James/Brayden Whittington ... Parkersburg South 14 Hurricane 12 after 1 ... that was as close as Hurricane would be the rest of the contest as the PSHS pressure turned the Redskins over 26 times in the game, holding HHS to just 3 fgs in the 2nd and 1 fg in the 4th periods ... Parkersburg South played 13 players with a running clock most of the 4th period ... on the PSHS side 3 treys in the 2nd period 1 each from Austin Reeves off the bench, Mooney with his 2nd of the game, and Jackson Smith's 3 ball were more than enough when paired with the inability of the Redskins to solve the PSHS pressure to call this one over after 2 periods ... Parkersburg South 32 Hurricane 19 at intermission .... the 3rd qtr. was HHS's best scoring qtr. as the Redskins put up 12 points (6 from Till, 5 Jackson Clark, 1 on a Tingler FT) for PSHS the left handed 6-0 senior guard carried the Patriots with 10 points include 6 on transition buckets after Redskin turnovers ... Parkersburg South dropped 28 points in the quarter to make this one a route ... Parkersburg South 60 Hurricane 31 end of 3 ... Parkersburg South emptied the bench as the clock ran with a PSHS 30 point plus lead for most of the 4th period ... Parkersburg South 74 Hurricane 35 a final ...

Game #3

Fairland 81
Federal Hocking 38 a final

... one of the things you notice following 71 teams across SEO is the strength of leagues this season ... the TVC across the board is down while the OVC is strong top to bottom with South Point, Fairland, Gallia Academy, Ironton leading the way ... Fairland entered this one sporting one of the best scoring guards in all of SEO - Aiden Porter ... AP scores the ball from everywhere 3 point land, midrange, and at the rim while seeing the floor to drop dimes in the offensive flow of the game for FHS ... on the Federal Hocking side - the Lancers graduated an outstanding group of senior off of last years team - yet bring back a solid - TVC solid - team led by soph guard Tariq Cottrill ... the matchups showed Porter guarding Cottrill - a matchup based on the TC output of only 12 points, AP won on the night as the rest of the FH team didn't match up well with the rest of the Fairland TEAM ... with 1:19 to play the first period the Dragons owned this one leading 20-9 ... all 5 Dragon starters had put numbers up on the napkin stat sheet , Fairland was 3/5 from beyond the arc ... for FHS Porter 5 pts with a trey/ Steeler Leep 6 points at the rim on 3 nice baseline drives to the rim, Jd Thacker 5 points with a triple to his name, Ethan Taylor 3 pts on a beyond the arc 3-ball, Will Davis 3 pts on a deuce & 1 ... for Fed Hock Cottrill 4 points on couple midrange jumpers, Lane Smith 2 pts and pair of 3 pointers with Andrew Airhart and Iden Miller one each ... Fairland 22 Federal Hocking 14 after 1 ... in all of the year's I have watched Fairland hoops under Coach Speed's tenure I expect ,and am never disappointed, to see outstanding defensive pressure, 3 point shooting, great fundamentals at both ends of the floor, outstanding passing with dimes dropped on backdoor cuts - the whole TEAM package - in the 2nd ALL of the above was on display as the Dragons put this one out of reach - putting up 23 points vs 11 for the Lancers ... FHS turned FH over 6 times with pressure fullcourt D, an offensive explosion from everyone who got touches/ every even scoring across the board for the Dragons - AP led with 6 points (his 2nd trey) , 5 points with triple and 2 from Ethan Taylor, Jd Thacker with 4 points, Will Davis 4 points, and 4 points off the bench - 2 each from Chase Allan & Zion Martin ... the Lancers picked up 4 points each from Cottrill/Airhart, 2 from Caden Chapman, a FT from Gauge McVey ... Fairland 45 Federal Hocking 25 at the half ... coming out of the half, the Lancer fixed the turnover issue but couldn't find an answer to Fairland's "everyone can score the rock" offense ( 4 players scoring in double figures for the game) as Fairland added 25 more points in the 3rd with 8 points off the bench from guard Chase Allen (including 2 triples from the top of the key) ... 6 points in the paint from Jd Thacker, 5 more from Ethan Taylor including his 3rd trey on the game, and relatively quiet 4 points from AP to go with 2 from Leep to round out the scoring for FHS in the 3rd ... for Fed Hock 12 points didn't keep pace with the Dragons onslaught ... three balls from Cottrill & Airhart (5 pts) and pair of 2 pointers from Smith ... this one went to a running clock ... Fairland 70 Federal Hocking 37 after 3 ... Fairland played everyone on the roster in the final period STILL able to put up 11 points in the period and hold the Lancers to 1 point ... Ethan Taylor tossed in another triple before leaving the game (his 4th for the game) , the youngin's for Fairland Chase Allen his 3rd three pointer, 2 points from Zion Martin, 2 from the line for freshman pg Brody Buchanan, and a FT for Cole Lucas ... game, set and match ... Fairland (OVC) 81 Federal Hocking 38 (TVC) a final

Game #4

Newark 60
Waverly 55 OT a final

... the most intense game of the day - outstanding matchup between arguably the best team in SEO no matter the division Waverly Tigers (D2) vs (5-1) OCC Cardinal division D1 power Newark Wildcats ... a look at the Newark PROGRAM in D1 - they ain't bad to say the least - Coach Quackenbush has built a program that averages 18 wins per season in the last 10 years in D1 ... great matchup, outstanding effort from the Tigers of Coach Robertson taking the Wildcats into OT before falling 55-60 ... this one was Waverly's to win as the Tigers built a 7 point advantage at 6:05 in the 4th leading 44-37 ... timely or untimely turnovers (5 in the 4th period) and untimely missed FTs in the overtime period (0 for 3) were the 2 napkin stats that put the L on the Waverly side of the pocket schedule - both of which when playing a D1 power from Above the Lancaster-Dixon Line which averages 18 wins per season you can't have - a great barometer game for Waverly, a true test for Newark from a SEO D2 team ...

... looking back at the napkin stat sheet, Waverly trailed in this one only 3 times - at the end of the half, a couple of seconds at the end of regulation and the overtime period... at 4:53 in the opening quarter Waverly led 7-3 forcing a NHS timeout ... the Tigers opened the game jumping all over the Wildcats going 2/3 from downtown with 3 balls from Trey Robertson/Wade Futhey ... Will Futhey offering up 5 points in the period to lead the Tiger attack and 4 points from Hudson Kelly ... the Tiger D defined the phrase "get up in 'em" on defense holding the Wildcats to 9 first qtr points : 1/4 from behind the arc with the lone triple coming from Grant Somers, single buckets from Ethan Schell and Drew Oberholtzer and a pair of FTs from Steele Meister rounded out the Wildcats on the scoreboard ... Waverly 15 Newark 9 end of one ... Newark , a very guard oriented team, found the range from behind the arc ... the Wildcats went 5/9 from the 3 point line Meister with 2, Schell with 2 & a pair FTs, Somers 5 points on a trey and a deuce ... on the defensive side Trey Robertson was the center of the Newark attention as arguably THE best guard in SEO was face guarded for 32 minutes - I'm more than sure Trey could tell you the flavor of the Austin Rose/Drew Oberholtzer and Ethan Stare's gum of preference was for the game ... in a game where the officials "let them play physical" - it was a difficult night for T Robertson to get loose ... the Newark D held the Tigers to 10 points in the 2nd period ... 4 from Trey Robertson, 4 from Mark Stulley, and 2 more from Will Futhey on a putback bucket ... Newark 28 Waverly 25 at the half ... the 3rd period was as close to "being owned" by a team in this one as you can get as the Tigers of Waverly put up 14 points vs the Wildcats 7 to take 4 point lead heading into the final period ... Trey Robertson put up 7 points on the board with a triple and a pair of 2 pointers/ Robertson "the Younger" - freshman, Braylon Robertson added a 3 pointer ... taking the Robertson Bros. 10 points, a 2 pointer from Will Futhey down low, and 2/2 from the FT line from Kelly the Tigers held Newark to 3 fgs in the period , 2 fgs from Schell and one by Ethan Stare to go with Somers 1/2 from the line - the Tigers looked "in charge" with the defense being played by the Tigers in that 3rd period ... Waverly 39 Newark 35 after 3 ... the first 1:55 of the 4th was all Tigers as they took their largest lead of the game up 7 at 6:05 on the clock ... after playing a solid 3rd period in which they outscored NHS 14-7 and had zero turnovers after the 6:05 mark of the 4th the Tigers had 5 TOs , took some questionable 3 pointers in moments when the clock was their friend ... all of which allowed the D1 Wildcats to get back in the game... at 5:39 in the period the Wildcats had whittled the score down to 40-44 ... 1:46 to play Waverly was on top 47-46 ... a pair of Grant Burkholder gave the Wildcats a 1 point lead at 48-47 with 1:33 to play ... a 2 pointer by the Tigers with :29.7 on the clock gave the Tigers a 49-48 lead ... Robertson the elder sank a pair of FTs with 24.5 on the clock gave WHS a 51-48 lead ... Grant Somers hit a 3 ball with 8.5 on the clock knotted the score at 51-51 ... overtime ... a 16-12 fourth period for Newark ... Somers with 5 points including the big time 3 pointer in the final 10 secs to tie the game, Schell a 3 pointer, 5 points for Burkholder 3 FTs included the second of 2 giving the Wildcats the lead at 1:33 ... 3 pts for Oberholtzer ... programs - teams who have a history of winning do the little things right down the stretch ... the Wildcats won the little things beating Waverly 2 turnovers to 5 in the fourth, 4/5 from the FT line in the closing seconds to tie the game and push ahead to force Waverly to make good decisions and make shots ... Waverly got big three pointers from the freshman Robertson (2 in the 4th period) , 4 points from Trey Robertson, 2 from Will Futhey ... the turnovers, a couple of missed opportunities on the blocks that weren't converted gave Newark the opportunity to tie the game in the 4th ... Newark 51 Waverly 51 after regulation ... the final score 60-55 Wildcats would indicate that Newark owned the OT, but when you look closer NHS led by 1 at :30.5 to play 56-55 Wildcats ... 4 points from Will Futhey in the paint was all WHS could muster ... 0/3 from the line in OT - missed opportunity to keep on the pressure, Burkholtzer again converted for Newark at the line converting on 2 FTS with :23 sec on the clock to make the score 58-55 ... Meister added 2/2 from the line with :09 on the clock gave the Wildcats the final margin 60-55 ... Newark 60 Waverly 55 a final in OT ...

Trimble 65
Caldwell 51 a final

... this one was about as close as you could get through 3 quarters ...

Quarter Breaks:

Trimble .... 15 ... 27 ... 45 ...
Caldwell .. 13 .... 28 ... 42 ...

... the first quarter was a glimpse of what this game was going to look like for the 4 qtrs - Caldwell in the first got points from it's junior/1000 point plus scorer in Bede Lori (7 points) on drives to the rim , 4 points from Tyce Devolld - all on drives to the rim ... Mat Kowalsky on ... wait for it - a drive to the rim ... defensively the Tomcats were definitely getting beat off the dribble ... for the Tomcats for their "slice" of the game to come - showed balanced scoring, as all 5 starters put up points on the scoreboard - Blake Guffey 4 points,, Tyler Weber 4 points on transition buckets, a 3 pointer from Austin Wisor, a 2 point basket each from Tucker Dixon and Cole Wright ... Trimble 15 Caldwell 13 after 1 ... it seemed to be the story line for Caldwell as Lori added 9 points in the 2nd including a trey, while Devolld continued to exploit the Trimble D by taking the ball to the rim for 6 more points ... Trimble got 4 points from Weber , Austin Wisor picked up his 2nd trey on the game, Guffey was held in check in the paint with only a deuce to show, Clarence Jones came off the bench to put in a 2 pointer and Wright added a FT ... Caldwell 28 Trimble 27 at the half ... neither team could muster a run that would give them separation on the scoreboard Trimble continued to have TEAM put up points on the napkin state sheet while Caldwell seemed a one man show in Bede Lori as the junior knocked down 10 points in the 3rd with 4/4 from the FT line included ... 2 pointers each by #4 and Jett Lori ... Trimble finally got perimeter scoring as the Tomcats hit 3/4 shots from downtown ... Tyler Weber contributing 2 treys, and Wisor adding his 3rd of the game for his 3 points in the quarter ... Blake Guffey went 3/4 from the FT line along with a 2 point putback bucket ... Dixon/William Freeborn picked up a 2 pointer each to help get the Tomcats the lead at the end of the 3rd ... Trimble 45 Caldwell 42 end of 3 ... from the Cheap Seats it appeared through 3 quarters that Trimble was the better TEAM while Caldwell was a 1 or 2 man show ... the 4th period was a battle of defenses ... Trimble held the Redskins to 2 fgs in the 4th while CHS held the Tomcats to 3 fgs in the period ... Coach Caldwell's Tomcats started to pull away at 6:44 of the 4th leading 49-42 ... at 5:40 the lead was pushed out to 11 points when all was said and done the Tomcats had shutdown the Caldwell scoring until 1:13 on the clock in the 4th when Bede Lori drained a 3 for CHS's first fg in the quarter ... to little too late as Trimble went to line 18 times knocking down 14 ... Dixon 8/10 on his own ball from the line, Guffey 4/6 with a pair of 2 pointers (8 pts) , Weber a deuce and Wisor 2/2 from the line ... Trimble 65 Caldwell 51 a final

Warren 79
Alexander 51 a final

... the final score doesn't show how this one played out on the court in the 1st 3 quarters ... the outcome was up in the air through 3 periods as it appeared that IF Alexander could keep it close behind the scoring of junior Kyler D'Augustino they might just get the W vs the Warren Warriors ... the MO on the Warren ballclub is that they struggle to find points, solid D but the points especially from the perimeter were/are few and far between ... Alexander is led by Kyler D'Augustino who picked up his 1000th point on the first of 2 FTs in the 2nd quarter ... Warren jumped out to the early lead behind the 9 first qtr points of 6-4 sr Brayden Sallee (a trey, 2 FTs and pair of 2 pointers) , Ayden Cornell added a triple, with 2 points each from Trent Taylor and Chase Lupardus (fr) ... for Alexander D'Augustino had 3 midrange jumpers (6 points) , Alex Norris a pair of 2 pointers and one from the Spartan big man down low Zach Barnhouse ... Warren 16 Alexander 12 after 1 ... the Warriors didn't seem to find the right answer for D'Augustino ... in the first KA was picked up and double teamed in the backcourt to get him to give up the ball, the junior was too quick to be trapped as he blew by the 2 defenders giving Alex a 5 on 3 advantage ... in the 2nd KA started to heat up from the perimeter hitting for 2 treys/10 points ... AHS has been looking to find scoring help for D'Augustino - Jagger Cain found his spot in the corner as he hit for a triple , 2 pointers from Braydin McKee and Jace Ervin gave Alexander a 29-29 tie heading into the locker room ... for the Warriors - Sallee kept pace with D'Augustino adding 7 points including his 2nd triple of the game in the 2nd period , a much needed trey from Dennis Pettey and 3 points from Taylor rounded out the Warrior scoring in the 2nd ... Warren 29 Alexander 29 at intermission ... the thoughts in the Cheap Seats were that D'Augustino was just warming up, he showed he could get to the rim or pullup and hit the midrange jumper, then as the 2nd wound down he hit a pair of deep triples ... what were the options defensively for Warren vs KD? the double team to get him to give up the ball didn't work so well as he put up 16 points and distributed the ball ... 3rd quarter? jump the ball in the back court, force the rest of the Alex team to make decisions with the ball? or ??? the 3rd unfolded with Warren's Dennis Pettey taking over offensively, the senior guard put up 13 points in the quarter, Sallee adding 9 more to his game total of 26 thru 3 periods ... for Alexander KD added 10 points of his own for 26 points thru 3 ... not much support as Cain added his 2nd 3 pointer of the game, and a putback dunk from Braydin McKee ... Warren 51 Alexander 45 end of 3 ... a subtle change at the end of the 3rd and all of the 4th defensively for Warren on D'Augustino - Coach Maddox & Co. went with putting size on KD, 6-5 Trent Taylor took over guarding D'Augustino - straight up, size to force KD to change his shot ... KD was held to 4 points in the 4th , only 1 fg, no triples ...not enough firepower in the remaining Alexander weapons to stay up with a Warren offense that was in rare air territory - over 50 points in a game ( 66 vs Belpre a W, 76 vs Washington CH in a loss) ... in this one the Warriors had 51 at the end of 3! in the 4th Trent Taylor not only shutdown KD he dropped 10 points in the period, while Brayden Sallee was chasing the Warren record of 44 points in a game held by Evan French @ Chillicothe back in the day ... Sallee put up 14 points in the 4th period to give him 39 for the game before being subbed out ... Warren 79 Alexander 51 a final ...

... I totally enjoyed the Saturday of games at Alexander High School ! yep the first 3 matchups were no contest games but it doesn't mean we as fans didn't get to see good teams in those opening games - Wheelersburg? got to see them in-person for the first time ... they will be a handful as the year moves along - players are learning their roles , Josh Clark is growing on the court - he will be tough as the year progresses ... the 2nd game had Parkersburg South - a team that Logan had lost to AT PSHS last week - by seeing the Patriots I'm able to put that loss in perspective - not many teams in SEO if any are beating Parkersburg South - Logan plays the Patriots in January, in Logan for a rematch ... Trimble being shorthanded without Bryce Downs took on a good Caldwell team and handled them without Downs in the lineup - the Tomcats only get better/deeper when BD gets back after the new year ... Fairland is an excellent TEAM with all kinds of weapons on offense and defense - seeing them live on back to back nights vs Gallia Friday night and then vs Federal Hocking tells me a lot about the Dragons but also gives me a better perspective on the South Point team that beat FHS a little over a week ago ( learned that South Point also picked up the Chesapeake big man from last season in the transfer portal) ... Waverly even in losing moved up, they are that good ... they aren't going to see the pressure defense that Newark applied by anyone in SEO ... no one in SEO beats this Newark team ... Waverly isn't playing a cake non-conference schedule, they will pick up some L's but it won't hurt them in the Elite 8, hoping to get to Ironton this week and then back to Waverly the following week to see the Tigers a couple more times before the Jan. 1 ... Warren picked up win #5 in a row ... the Warriors of Coach Maddox are finding out who they are, what they have to do defensively to get W's ... they are finding their identity - Coach Maddox at one point in the game vs Alexander had 3 freshmen on the court at the same time! he is developing a TEAM - getting his scorers going in Sallee, Taylor and Pettey ... finding the role players around these big 3 ... the Warriors are figuring it out ...

... again a great job by the Alexander staff in putting the Spartan Alley Classic together AND already putting together the TEAMS and potential matchups for next years classic ... I've marked it on MY hoops calendar for the 2022-23 season already ...

Caldwell 51 a final

... this one was about as close as you could get through 3 quarters ...

Quarter Breaks:

Trimble .... 15 ... 27 ... 45 ...
Caldwell .. 13 .... 28 ... 42 ...

... the first quarter was a glimpse of what this game was going to look like for the 4 qtrs - Caldwell in the first got points from it's junior/1000 point plus scorer in Bede Lori (7 points) on drives to the rim , 4 points from #4 (sorry but he wasn't listed on the roster sheet) 4 points - all on drives to the rim ... Trimble 15 Caldwell 13 after 1 ... it seemed to be the story line for Caldwell as Lori added 9 points in the 2nd including a trey, while #4 continued to exploit the Trimble D by taking the ball to the rim for 6 more points ...

Pfloyd's official "UN-official" Napkin stats - Caldwell

Scoring ... Bede Lori 31, Preston ????? #4 - 14 , Carter Wheeldin 2, Jett Lori 2, Mat Kawolsky 2
3 Pointers ... 2/21 ... Bede Lori 2
FTs ... 11/13
TOs ... 14
PnP ... 14 fg/ 28 points
PnT ... 1 fg/ 2 points in transition
Pbk ... 1 fg/ 2 pts off of offensive boards

Pfloyd's official "UN-official" Napkin Stats - Trimble

Scoring ... Blake Guffey 19, Tyler Weber 16, Tucker Dixon 12, Austin Wisor 11, Cole Wright 3, William Freeborn 2, Clarence Jones 2
3 Pointers ... 5/12 ... Austin Wisor 3, Tyler Weber 2
FTs ... 20/29 ... 14/18 in the 4th period
TOs ... 7
PnP ... 15 fgs/ 30 points in the paint
PnT ... 3 fgs/ 6 points in transition
Pbk ... 3 fgs/ 6 points off of offense boards
Awesome analysis of all these games! Theses schools need to pay you for this quality of coverage! Waverly and Trimble are fantastic teams for anywhere, not just SE Ohio. Those were the two games I watched. #4 for Caldwell is Tyce Devolld, he’s played in every game, he’s a junior, not sure why he wasn’t on the roster. He’s actually normally the 4th leading scorer for them, Jett Lori who had 2 points averages close to 20 and the big Kowalsky is a double double guy most nights. They didn’t have it yesterday, Trimble may have had a lot to do with that! Thanks again for these write ups, better than the Marietta Times!

redskinwitness - thank you for giving me Tyce Devolld's name -I corrected my post to include his name- I hated putting only a number but that's all I had to go on - Tyce is a player, I knew he wasn't just a "fill in player" as he knew what to do with the ball LOL ... he's a nice player for sure ... I did some digging prior to the game on Caldwell, knew they were going to be a handful for Trimble with Bryce Downs being out of the lineup ... with the information you posted on the ppg from Jett Lori and Kowalsky that they DIDN'T get vs Trimble Saturday - Coach Caldwell & the Tomcats should feel good with the defense they played vs Caldwell ... good stuff thank you for the info!

As far as me getting paid LOL !!! yesterday was an all day affair writing up game rundowns and putting together the Elite 8 rankings LOL Mrs. Pfloyd said the same thing that I should get paid for doing this stuff LOL ... I enjoy doing it all, the reward is going to the games - getting a chance to talk to coaches, parents of players, the radio guys, fans of the game of high school hoops ... the people at Alexander gave me a free pass to get in the games, showed me where the hospitality room was - Lou Horvath game me a shoutout on the PA - it doesn't get any better than that LOL ... when the Waverly radio guys got to the game - they were setting up for their broadcast & actually knew who pfloyd was !!! I must be doing something right LOL ...

Just an outstanding job by the people at Alexander. The noodles were top notch and getting to see PFloyd before our game was nice.

Parkersburg South is the best team I have seen all season. The are athletic and DEEP. They player harder than anyone I've seen (well maybe a tie with Waverly) and they just keep coming at you.

I totally agree Crab's Brother ! the Patriots of Parkersburg South are excellent - depth is there for sure, to play that 94 ft of pressure for 32 minutes they HAVE TO BE deep ... Waverly is the best Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line IF they bring it every night - if they settle for 3's it makes them beatable (when they went up 9 points - the 3 balls they took were not good decisions with the score and clock on their side) ... fun teams to watch for sure ... going to see Waverly again this week at Ironton taking on yet another tough non-con opponent - Ashland Ky ... then next week vs the University of Upper Arlington at the Holiday get together in Waverly's downtown arena ... I smile just looking at my travel schedule this week and next - some outstanding games between some excellent SEO/foreign/Central District teams ...

Just now got time to read the game recap, great as always. Hoping to see the freshman continue to get more minutes as the season progresses.

Coaching would be my guess. Too worried abbot the refs and not enough about the team.
