Some mistakes being made by New Lex now.... Should try to shorten the game.

:35 sec left. Warren 41-38. Not sure what New Lex is thinking down the stretch here. Unfortunate for the Panthers.

New Lex went into their stall too early, but got saved by a masterful execution of a great set play to force OT

Stephens has figured some stuff out in OT, so they have a chance

54-46 Final. Very similar to the game between New Lex & Marietta and the two games between Warren & Marietta and the New Lex & Miami Trace game. All teams could have won with but for a couple turnovers, shot selection, missed free throws, calls that could go either way, etc. Just a great deal of parity among these three teams and a few others in Southeast D-II.

Not sure I agree. New Lex took couple shots down the stretch in the 4th quarter that may not have been advisable. Evenly matched teams, along with Miami Trace, Marietta and Washington Courthouse. Just the kind of year we had in Southeast D-II this year.

New Lex imploded down the stretch. Some terrible turnovers. The stalling took them out of their rhythm in my opinion

Yep, up 3 with about 3:30 left and took one more shot before the 3 to tie it. A 6-0 run impacted by turnovers when not running an offense.

You don’t have to stop running an offense when running clock, run it to get layups. But, holding the ball and dribbling around aimlessly can lead to carelessness, which it did.

Agreed. They werent looking to score, they just dribbled into traffic which lead to turnovers.

It was a tremendous game to watch. New Lexington’s coach was impressive….the Panthers have a bright future. I was impressed with their guard play and #0 played very physical. Warren’s Big Two (Stadleman & Taylor) and a few timely buckets by their role players proved the difference. Good win for Warren. On to the Sweet Sixteen.

Pfloyd's official "UN-official" Napkin Stats - Warren

Scoring ... Julian Stadelman 22, Trent Taylor 15, Jacob Sealey 7, Chase Lupardus 2, Connor Barry 2, Hayden Wells 2, Colin Anthony 2, Nick Chessey 2

... Coach Maddox & staff came up with the game plan, TEAM executed the plan - took away the points in the paint by the New Lex guards, if they could keep Stanson/Stephens out of the paint they wouldn't be on the FT line ... controlled the boards 37-21 rebounding advantage by the Warriors ... offensively ran the offense through the paint - 38 points in the paint for WHS ... survive and advance ...

Agreed. How long has it been with this much equality of play in Southeastern Ohio? I’ve seen New Lex, Warren and Marietta a lot, and just a couple Miami Trace games and one Washington Court House game (and a few others from the top 8 or 10 seeds). All of these teams have proven they can beat one another. It will be different with new divisions next season but what a year it has been in 2024.

Amazing what happens when the officials actually call some fouls on New Lex… :)

(And they left a lot out there, Taylor was getting hacked almost every time he shot it, kudos to him for making tough shots)

Are you still crying about officiating? I thought this was a well officiated game. The only reason Warren so many free throws in OT is because New Lex opted to use up their fouls in at the end of the 4th to limit the time Warren had to set up their final play.

I think what is atrocious is that there was no live stream video of this game. Don't understand how WTAP or WMOA (yes I know they are radio) couldn't setup shop and video stream this one.
