SEOAL Football History Part 4: SEOAL MVPs and Coaches of the Year

Post by loganlocos »

SEOAL MVPs

No official "MVP" was selected until 1953. Prior to that, often a "Captain" was named from among the SEOAL 1st team by the varying selectors. This is an attempt to compile all the MVP/Captains.

From 1925-1932 school officials selected an All-League team. In 1936 and 1937 the Wellston Daily Sentinel sponsored a vote for the All-SEOAL team.

From 1938-1941 the team was sponsored by the Jackson Sun-Journal. From 1942-1948 the All-SEOAL was selections were made by the coaches and sponsored by the Gallipolis Daily Tribune.

1949 was the first "official" All-SEOAL team compiled by the Sportswriters and Broadcasters. Voting was done by the league head coaches. From 1950-1952 the SEO Broadcasters and Writers selected the team.

The history ends tonight with one team finishing last, and the other finishing next to last in the league standings. What a motivator that is!

Boggs should've won in 95 and Wolford in 96

A lot of times seniors won over juniors (like everything else)

Great job locos

Amyx had 12 while at Logan in his last 21 years. That is over 57% being the SEOAL head coach in that period of time.
