... 2 majorly surprising scores from the Northwest Territory ...

Logan Elm 81
Hamilton Twp 49 final

Bloom Carroll 81
Circleville 51 final

... wow both Hamilton Twp and Roundtown are quality ball clubs ... to get manhandled the way they were? I would have taken LE for the win but Bloom Carroll over Circleville ? by 30 points ???

Logan Elm played its most complete game of the season so far. They scored the first 8 points of the game and did not look back. Congrove had 8 threes (one short of the school record). Chad Holbrook was filling all the columns of the stat sheet and had a great all-around game. Township tried to press and just got torched repeatedly. Nothing was working for them. Curry was held to single digits. LE is really starting to come together.

As for the BC - Circleville game, yeah BC is down this year, but they still play tough defense, still make their free throws, and still can exploit weak spots. Their main problem has been scoring consistently. Circleville, as good as they have been this year, isn't accustomed to success. BC is probably the worst team in our league to get a big head against. Throw in the fact that this was at Carroll, which is an evil place to play at, and maybe its not so improbable after all.

Pfloyd...I was totally shocked by the Circleville game too. It was 32-31 at one point in the third quarter for Carroll. I imagine Circleville went cold from the field and rushed shots, translating on the other end for Carroll. Like I said a couple of days ago, Carroll is down for Carroll but you can never count them out. They played Logan Elm tough, went to 9-2 Granville and won and defeated 9-4 Circleville at home since the LE loss. They also went to overtime against Upper Arlington earlier this season. You can never look past Carroll. If they played a soft non-league they'd be above .500 but they play a very difficult non-league schedule, especially for a D3 school.

A very good win for the Braves. Nice to see Timmy Congrove go off in a big way with the eight triples.

Carroll 81 Circleville 51

Carroll outscores Circleville 23-4 in third quarter.
McGlone 13 for Circleville, McMahon 10 and Hartinger 9

Circleville 9-5, 5-3 vs. Amanda Saturday.

Fairfield 57, Amanda 48
Smith 16, McClone 14 and Phillips 12 for the Falcons

Fairfield 8-6, 3-5 hosts Canal Winchester Saturday.

Logan Elm 81, Hamilton Township 49
Congrove 28, including 8 3's for the Braves. Z. Holbrook 15, C. Holbrook 11.

Logan Elm 10-3, 7-1 travels to Teays Valley Saturday.

There you have it from the cold frontier of the Northwest territory. Fairfield hosts Canal in the highlight game Saturday. Logan Elm looks to stay on track against Teays and Circleville tries to learn from a loss to Carroll against Amanda.

In the meanwhile, the Westfall Mustangs return to action Friday against Paint Valley.

b618 and gobraves great stuff ... with the Road to the Convo on the horizon Coach Stiverson is getting the LE boyz tweaked and ready for the 2nd season ... I'd like to get out to see the Braves again before the end of the season ... FU I'm sure is looking forward to having Canal coming for a visit (like going to the dentist LOL) ... keep on keeping us informed on the teams in the Northwest corner of the world ...

LE entertains the dentist on the 2nd, which is a Saturday night. That might be a time to come up to the reservation. LE is at home Friday and Saturday next week and at Circleville on the 29th.

... looks like Zanesville couldn't take being dropped behind Chillicothe on the Elite 8 list this past week - decided to drop out of the SEOAL AND become ineligible for the Elite 8 altogether j/k LOL ...

No, no, no I hear you pfloyd. Zanesville is in the East District and if the only reason they were ALLOWED to be graciously honored with an elite eight tribute was that they were in the SEOAL, well then they must go.

SVC Preview for Friday

Unioto @ Adena
Unioto comes in struggling a bit, while Adena is also coming off of a couple of straight L's. Unioto played Adena close at home, but winning in Frankfort is never easy(just ask Huntington) I can see this being a tight ballgame, but I'm not sure if the Shermans will have enough in the end. Hopefully, I'll be proved wrong.

Southeastern @ Huntington
If, IF, this game was at Southeastern, I could see an upset happening, but I don't think that the Huntsmen will lose at home this season. SE has their full lineup this time around and should make it interesting for 3 quarters, but Huntington's expierence and post play should make the difference.
Prediction: Huntington, 64-50

Paint Valley @ Westfall
Westfall went crazy in their season opener at PV and have been playing well of late, while PV has not played well lately. Look for a large margin of victory for the Mustangs in this one.
Prediction: Westfall, 75-52

SVC Game of the Week
Piketon @ Zane Trace
Piketon has a killer week coming up and it starts off in Kinnkinnick on Friday. ZT has been playing better as of late(minus the McClain game on Tuesday) and is always tough at home. You'd think that you lose one of your best players and you'd go backwards, but ZT has taken a couple of extra steps forward. This game could either be a low scoring grinder or a high scoring shootout. Piketon wants to run the floor, while ZT has trouble scoring, so if ZT tries to run the floor, Piketon should win with ease.
Prediction: Piketon, 58-55

Wheelersburg has got to shoot the ball better, especially under the basket if they expect to go far in the tourney. The defense was awesome as usual, but way to many bunny shots missed.
