... thanks Smeltzy , Dr Lou ... Fairfield Union is one of the teams I like to watch every year - my Purple take on FU next week - Coach Barr does a great job in the tough MSL ... Minford's stock is on the rise - should be 6-1 when they entertain the Burg on the 6th ... we will being keeping an eye the updates on that one next Tuesday night ...

Sweet floyd ... thx a million ... some of them teams are hard to get info on ...

(BTW) ... watching a very old ALEX-TRIMBLE game on Nelsonville cable - man, truly hillarious ... I think its the year with the eldest Chapman playing for Alex ... looks like a late 80's or mid 80's game ... It's in the old alex gym and everything ... Jeff Holbert was the key player for trimble; man it's funny to watch

Here is what i have thus far - sectional tourney wise ...

DIVISION II - WELLSTON

Athens (4-2)
Warren (3-1)
Vinton County (5-1)
Fairfield Union (4-3)
Meigs (3-3)
Marietta (4-1)
Sheridan (2-4)
Gallia (3-3)
New Lex (0-5)
Jackson (0-7)

* Be back with D-3 and D-4 .... Right now (4) teams make it to the convo from this sectional MARIETTA, VINTON COUNTY, WARREN, ATHENS & FAIRFIELD UNION look to be possible high seeds but Sheridan & meigs will have something to say about it.

... Congratulations to the Cavs and Coach K - going into Portsmouth and taking the Trojans completely out of their game in the 2nd half - outstanding defensive effort AND it looks like the Cavs are finding some scoring - 4 players in double figures tonight - CHS was on fire in that 3rd quarter of action ... outscoring the Trojans 21-7 ... I believe Chilli opened the 3rd period with a 13- 0 run to put this one outta' reach and make the Trojans play catch-up the rest of the game ... 3-2 with a big asterisk beside this one as a coming out party for the Cavs D in holding PHS to 42 pts AND getting scoring all around Smith 19/Dawes 11/Knights 11/Turner 12 ... look out SEOAL the Cavs are back in "bidness" ! ... Defense = W's ... the Cavs believe ...

... jottings - the Logan vs Marietta game is being played tomorrow night Jan 3rd ... for some reason the pocket schedule has on the Logan schedule it was to be played Jan 2nd then on the Marietta schedule Jan 3rd ... Jan 3rd is the correct game day for this one ... I'll post the scores for all of these contests JV/Var and I believe the freshmen are going to kick off the evening with a game vs the Tigers as well ...

pfloyd,

hitchbone and the family had to miss the defensive gem the Cavs displayed down on the River tonight. I wish you could have heard the excitement of the Cavs faithful I spoke with on the phone. This is what we knew we had with the experienced squad coming back. I am in complete shock, as I had P-Town as the top team (with Chilly) in the South. The one thing you said that sticks out is Chilly's D. Defense does in W and except for Logan Elm hitting 7/14 from 3 ball and Green from Ironton killing us, many Cavs fans would be smiling. The offense will get better, but the Cavs are a different squad this year. The best Napkin stat I heard tonight was the assist we had (well over our Season average) and the rebounding. I understand we doubled up on the Trojans (40-20 or so).

The SEOAL is open for all this year. The Cavs have a lot of work to do, but we start the new year off right. Down to the River to face Gallia on Tuesday. Another tough road test, but we will be ready.

GO CAVS!!! 2008 STATE CHAMPS!!!! and Still looking for their 2009 identity and theme.

Piketon put a strong second half together to come from a 30-23 deficit to the previously unbeaten Adena Warriors, to win by score of 68-58. Another great team performance by the Redstreaks with balanced scoring. Some say battle of two POY contenders; Clay Roll of adena, Coty Smith of Piketon....Roll was held to 11 points (2 in the 2nd half); Smith finished with 16 pts, 8 rebs.

Caleb Southworth finished with 9 pts, 10 rebs, 4 blocks, and shut down Roll the 2nd half with full court denial defense. Held him to 4/19 shooting for the game.

Brabson finished with 15pts,8 rebs
Evan Legg with 14 pts, 6 assists

Buddy Barnes for Adena finished with 23 pts.
Bower and Skaggs 12 points each.

Piketon outrebounded Adena 42-18.

7th road game out of 8 total games for Piketon...now 7-1 (3-1).
