VC hosted Circleville this morning. The Vikes won the majority of qtrs, but The Tigers played very hard! They were sound defensively, especially in the half court.

Vinton County will have more of a post presence this year then in recent past. Returners Chase Wood and Bo Mcintire are joined in the front court by Sean Caudill, who didn't play last year due to an ACL injury. Caudill might be a little raw from lack of experience, but he is a LOAD and will give The Vikings much more depth, size and strength down low. In the backcourt, Jordan Albright, Tristian Bartoe and Derrick Jones all have varsity experience and have gotten a little stronger in the past year.

No, you're probably thinking of Brice Dameron, he's a 6"8" Soph who is on JV but reinjured his hand and will be out for at least a month. Sean Caudill (I'm guessing) goes 6'4" 250lbs and is built like a brick #^%$ house. He's a cousin with the Guthrie's(Dustin & Dylan) and son of Jason Caudill who lit it up back in the day.

… thanks Ty Webb … after I posted my question I knew I had read that the 6-7 or 6-8 player wasn't an upper classman … 6-4 & 250 are good credentials to start with even if he is a raw talent … Coach Comb's & Co. will get make him an asset in the paint …

Valleys football season ended a few weeks premature than most thought, but that will help them on the hardwood.

Is Romanello going to play? If so, how significant is his injury?

SHAC wise I think Peebles is a little high, Lynchburg, North Adams a bit low and Whiteoak will be a little better than last year

Posting will pick back up once the season starts and there is actually something to talk about. I'll look forward to seeing you down at Zane Trace and maybe up at Logan Elm the day after mass consumption of turkey.

Or, if you like, 93Bulldog can turn this into a D2 Logan sectional seeding discussion and we can watch the posts pile up.

;)

Some notes from last night's Foundation Game between Athens and Unioto

Unioto wins 82-69, but Griffin Lutz put on a show for the Bulldogs. I think he was somewhere around 40 pts and it was a fairly efficient 40 as well. He was the best player on the court last night.

Athens will win some games this year. Lutz is outstanding, Saltzmann is a great competitor and will get his basketball legs back quickly (seemed like he got better as the game went on), and they have some kids that can knock down open shots...and they play extremely hard!

Unioto will be fine, they have to learn how to play with leads but that should come with experience. Started 2 sophomores in the backcourt and they held their own overall. Issac Wheeler was outstanding in the post for the Shermans.

Look forward to Logan coming into Frenchtown next Saturday night to kick off the season!

Unioto will be the best team in southern Ohio this season. PFloyd has it right. Unioto will be very good for awhile.

Unioto is definitely trying to fill that experience they lost to graduation in the backcourt. If the young guards can play at a high level, this team could be as good or better than last years team.

Well, I think that was considering Davidson being back, but apparently he's out at ZT now? That hurts on the offensive end.

I think the Cavs will be solid. Lots of youth, a very good sophomore class. Boltonhouse will be outstanding, but he's out half of the year. I'm not sure on the depth of the SCOL, but I think they'll push for 2nd behind Wilmington. WCH and MT should be good games.

Have to give major props to Unioto last night in the complete domination of my Trojans........the Shermans won the first 5 quarters by about a total of 50 points.......glad to see the Trojans get some consolation, winning the last quarter. Coach Hoops has a powerhouse that I believe might be better than last year's squad........deep, talented, and from what I saw, didn't have a weakness. They have guards, bigs, shooters, ballhandlers, rebounders, and they play hard on the defensive end. I know going undefeated in the regular season is very difficult, but if any team in the SE district can do it in 2015-2016, it will be Unioto.

I actually think the Trojans are a pretty good team (I have predicted 15-7 to 17-5).......and that makes the Shermans' performance last night even more impressive. We just had no answer for UHS, inside or outside. Coach Collins will get our kids together, though, and put together a good season at PHS.....his 106-40 overall record suggests he will.......last night, though, was a reality check for a team that basically starts 5 guards (PHS) with no size on the roster. It would be nice to have some size so that they we could run a more balanced offense, but we just have to deal with what we have.

Good job by the Waverly Tigers last night as they played the Adena Warriors in a scrimmage for scholarships game. The scrimmage was played as an actual game with the Tigers winning 62-50. Both teams look solid and I expect both to have good years. The real winner last night was the Run4Beau scholarship fund as $3,700 was raised for this worthy cause. Congrats to Alan Szoke and Martha Lopez for putting this together and a tribute to a young man that the Waverly community still sadly misses.

Thanks for update. It would appear that any team with size will pound the ball inside on Porysmouth. Size has been a situation for many years, a few 6'5 once in a blue moon. Dave, where have all the bigs gone?
