Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 2

Post by pfloyd »

... If the first 2 weeks of hoops action Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line is any indication this will be one of the most "fluid" Elite 8 ranking seasons ever ... teams in the Elite 8 have to bring their "A" game every game as any team on the Elite 8 list can beat any other team on the list while the better teams on the Treehugger rankings are proving to be thorns in the side of the Elite 8 as well ... of course the old cliche' " the cream always rises to the top" WILL hold true - just as the best of the best on both the Elite 8 and the Treehugger lists WILL begin to separate themselves from the pretenders as all teams find the lineups that work, coaches settle in on starters and roll players off the bench ... should be a great season to be in the "cheap seats" everywhere in Southern/Southeast Ohio ...

Big game Tuesday
#11 Unioto @ #3 Piketon

Unioto's incredible balance, all 5 starters average over 8 ppg, against Piketon's Big 3 and super sub. Piketon's taken care of business so far and has won 31 of 32 at the Oven.

No problem pfloyd. Hope all is well.

That'll be a big game in the SVC that could leap the Tanks into the Elite Eight. I was kind of surprised the U fell to ZT earlier in the season.

bman ... ZT is one of those teams that seems to ALWAYS have "potential" but has not panned out in the PAST ... so far this season Coach Alley's Pioneers ARE playing to their preseason "potential" ...

Not sure how you do it Floyd ... lol ... I decided to give it another week before coming up with another TVC top 6.

Too much chaos to try and figure out the rankings ... Vinton County losses to Logan Elm - Logan Elm losses to Athens, who lost to a Wellston team that was defeated by Eastern Pike? Belpre beats Federal Hocking - but then turns around and losses to Waterford, who uh lost to South Gallia by 12? The Lancers have 4 wins but they lost to Belpre AND Nelsonville-York, who lost to Vinton County. Did I mention winless Eastern knocked off undefeated Southern Friday?

Arrrggggggggghhhhh!

ZT lost 4 starters off of a 9-13 team, but returned their best player. Well, 2 of their top 6 are freshmen and their best player is averaging 6 points less a game as well. Oh, and they are 5-0. They only have 2 seniors, in which only one plays, so they could be a big time threat in the next few years. They have Huntington and Logan Elm before they start 2013 with Piketon. Will be a tough stretch for this young team, but with their bigs and excellent guard play, I think they will come out of it strong.

93dog! and you thought this was an easy job that the committee of one - me - has ... 71 teams out there Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line ... may not have a NEW ranking this upcoming weekend due to being admitted to the James in C'bus next Thursday through Christmas Day ... but the committee will be back to work for the end of Week 4 ...

Bulldog...the TVC has always beaten up on each other. This year is no different. The difference is they are faring better against tough non league teams. Hopefully the TVC continues to impress outside of the league and has a good showing come tournament time! I'd bet the farm Athens, Logan Elm and Vinton County will all have a say come Convo time :)

Floyd, you are an inspiration to everyone that is lucky enough to read your thoughts and opinions on preps. Good luck in your continued battle and God bless!

pfloyd its been awhile since I have been on, just to let you know your still in our prayers and looking foward to see you at the Beasts of the Southeast.
I know you have us in the wannabies and the boys are trying hard. With 3 seniors and Thompson the only starter returning and Meadows still out from broken leg in football it is going to be bring everything each and every night. We have quite a few early tough game as we have losses to Athens and Warren. We also will travel to Cincinnati Dec. 28th and 29th to play in a tournament with Div. 1 Cincinnati Anderson, New Richmond, and Bellueve out of Kentucky. Also you always have spot in the cheap seats at the Beasts compliments of our committee

Forgot to add Court House is 2-3 after it upset MT. Didn't see that one coming, but it is a big rivalry.

The SCOL Wheel of Destiny continues to go round and round.

Yeah, 93Dog, it's been a crazy start to the season. LE was playing beyond my expectations through the first four games with three new starters. Gotta hit the boards better after what Athens did. When does Athens-VC play?

... thanks Dundas ... VC has battled its way into the Elite 8 ... Coach Combs has a way of making it hard to keep the Vikings out of the Top 8 any given season ...

If I remember right, its 93Dog who use to make it hard on Floyd to keep the Vikings out ... lol

Especially back in the early 2000's ... I always had the Bethal led Vikes in the top 4 or 5 ... where were they on Floyds list? M.I.A.
