Oak Hill girls defeat Gallipolis, 62-36

Oak Hill’s girls basketball team, state tournament finalists last March, took up where they left off last winter with a 62-36 Foundation Game victory over the Gallipolis Blue Angels in the new GAHS gym Tuesday evening.

Oak Hill led 23-6 after one period and 39-12 during halftime. The Oaks led 50-25 going into the final period.

For Gallipolis, Haley Rosier tossed in 11 points to lead the Blue Angels. Amy Noe and Allie Troester tallied 10 points each for the Gallians while Morgan Daniels had six and Samantha Barnes had four points. Mattie Lanham and Tara Young each had one points for GAHS.

The Lady Oaks pressed GAHS full court most the game, forcing numerous Blue Angel turnovers. Oak Hill had four players score in double figures, led by Breanna Butler and Rebecca Puckett’s 12 points, Miquel Strite and Karissa Adkins 11 points apiece, Lakin Caudill’s eight points and Taylor Butler’s six. Kelsey Burton had two points.

Gallipolis will open’s its 2009-10 on the road this weekend.
