Lady Pointers suffer first loss of the year against Oak Hill

SOUTH POINT, OH-When the South Point Lady Pointers and the Oak Hill Lady Oakes match-up on the court, it’s guaranteed to be a great game. This game was no different as both teams gave it their all for the entire 32 minutes. A great crowd for both teams was in attendance.
The game started with both teams staying neck and neck. Towards the 5:00 minute to go mark of the first quarter, Oak Hill gained a slim lead and opened that up somewhat to end the opening quarter with a 25-16 lead. The Lady Oakes maintained around a 7-10 point lead for much of the second quarter and ended the first half with a 44-33 lead.
South Point came out strong in the second half and began to cut into the Oak Hill lead little by little. The third quarter ended with an eight point Oak Hill lead. In the final quarter, South Point had several spurts where they would cut into the lead, but Oak Hill would come right back up to open up a ten point lead. The Lady Pointers put up a strong effort, but Oak Hill would be victorious and win by a score of 75-69.
Jalynn Bradburn was the leading scorer for the Lady Pointers with 22 points. Allison Mitchell was second in South Point scoring with 18 points while Kayla Fletcher scored 13. Oak Hill also won the JV game by a score of 32-19.
The Lady Pointers will be back in action tomorrow, December 22nd as they play Ironton in the Ironton Classic. The game will tip at 3:00 pm. For more information visit www.pointersports.com.
