Senior Laiken Gambill leading the Falcons in the fourth quarter with stellar defense and offense play. 19 points on the game with a 3-pointer and 7-8 at the free-throw line in the 4th period as the Lady Falcons capture District Title (1st since 1986) and advance to Regionals against Oak Hill on Wednesday with a 46-39 victory over the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs.

That 19-7 3rd qtr. must have tired out the Mustangs. It's hard when you expend so much energy to overcome a deficit to open up a decent size lead and then see it evaporate. It sounds like both teams left it on the floor.

Did Minford's quickness take over once LC obtained a decent lead?

Great win by Minford and great effort by Lynchburg!

clay was up 5 with 3 min to go and instead of pulling it out and run the clock they chose to drive to the basket for some wild shots. i was rooting for minford and couldnt believe what clay was doing. congrats to the falcons for making plays at the end when needed.

86 was back in the days of McGraw, Zempter and company. Some good teams back then too!

I think the officiating at the end of this game was more biased toward the team that won than I thought it was in the Oak Hill comeback! One time they hit the ball handler and took her legs right out from under her and they called traveling, so maybe that is why they attacked the basket - they wouldn't get calls, but on the other end Minford would. One play the Minford player drove, big contact that I thought was a charge, the ref put his hand behind his head to call a charge, then changed it to a block!

The one thing I have learned is that the refs reward those players that attack the rim and are really trying to score, where some players at times go in looking for the foul first and throw it up, hopin for the foul. Sounds like one team looked for good shots, another was trying to get fouled and go to the line to win it, but who knows..great effort on the part of both teams, Minford once again dug down and used their leadership to win the game..Justice and Gambill have been on a big stage before trying to win ball games, they are part of that Magic team that came in second in the AAU Nationals, experience payed of for them.. Big shot by Gambill, great kid, and after the two years previous years she had with injuries..couldnt be more happy for her..GREAT JOB LADY FALCONS..
