RUSSELL, Ky. -- Kayla Parsley hit a basket in the closing seconds to lift Russell to a 48-46 win over South Point in girls action Monday night.
Samantha Sparks added 14 points and Ginny Ferguson 10 to spark the Red Devils in their season opener.
South Point's Kayla Fletcher led all scorers with 21 points. Tinesha Taylor contributed 12 for the Pointers (0-2). They got a couple of shots off in the final seconds, but did not convert.
South Point's next game is Thursday at River Valley.
SOUTH POINT 10 11 14 11 -- 46: Kelley 2, Mayo 2, Fletcher 21, Leighty 5, Bradburn 4, Taylor 12.
RUSSELL 14 4 15 15 -- 48: Simpson 4, Ferguson 10, Parsley 18, Baldridge 2, Sparks 14.
