Southern Ohio Magic 11u/Carson on their way to D-1 Nationals

Post by SOMAGIC »

Southern Ohio Magic 11u/Carson team placed runner-up in the AAU state tournament and is now on their way to Division I Nationals.

Game 1 SOM 52 Ohio Express 19

Game 2 SOM 30 Angels 26

Game 3 SOM 32 WV Thunder 46

Game 4 SOM 38 Angels 36

Game 5 SOM 53 WV Thunder 67 (District Championship Game)

Coach Carson was extremely proud of how hard the girls played this weekend. The girls over came adversity several times this weekend to earn this accomplishment. Each player contributed every game to attain this goal.

Thunder is always a pretty good team. Nothing wrong with getting beat by them.

The other girl from Peebles is a year younger and plays on the Thunder 10u team. That Thunder team won the Ohio AAU State Championship the weekend before and will be going to Orlando for the Division I Nationals.

Big Congratulations to Coach Carson and to the girls. Glad to see Sid and Baylee make it back again this year (third year in a row as their first two Nationals were with the Cincy Legend) and to the other girls for their first trip to the AAU Nationals!!! Second place is a great accomplishment out of something like 14 teams. Sounds like the two games with the Angels were very good.

Yes Congratualtions to The SO Magic. With only seven players, they must of been tired.
They are the closet 11u team to come to the Thunder this year.
They held their own against a very good thunder team.
Good Luck in Branson.

Who is the new point guard then?

I haven't seen the Magic 11u play for a few weeks but they have two point guards on this team. One of them is Coach Carson's daughter and she is a very nice player and then the other girl is from Mason County, KY and she is also very talented.

This team, as someone mentioned, has only two schools represented on this team. There are four girls from Peebles, all in the 6th grade, and three from Mason County, KY (two are in the 6th grade and one is in the 7th).

To do what they have done this year says a lot. Most AAU teams have girls from many different schools. Peebles is going to have a very strong girls program down the road if all these girls stick with it and stay around, especially when you add a couple strong players that are a grade ahead and the other girl who is a grade below them.

I know that the Southern Ohio Magic 11u is looking for a couple more very solid players to pick up and go to the Nationals in Branson, Missouri.
