Waverly

I hear Waverly hired their reserve coach.

Does anyone know anything about him and his basketball experience? Can he turn the program around?

It's going to take some time to turn the girls program around. He can do it if given time and support at the younger level.

Didn't they just get a new coach? What happened there?

The coach from last year coached only one season as head coach and then resigned. Coach John Bonifield is the new varsity coach and yes, he did coach JV last year. The JV showed great improvement from the beginning to the end of the season. It will take a long time to build a program and the interest has to be there at the lower level. Coach Bonifield has a daughter in 4th or 5th grade so he truly has a vested interest in the program. Good luck John and the Waverly Tigers...work hard over the summer and you will see some payoff come winter.

Lady Tigers go down to Portsmouth 47-44 tonight. Might be a real long year now...Wins are at a premium and one went by the boards tonight.
