Lady Pointers start conference play with win over Fairland

SOUTH POINT, OH-Coming off of an exciting win against Ashland on Monday, the South Point Lady Pointers hosted the Fairland Lady Dragons in an OVC conference match-up at Pointer Gym. This was the first OVC game of the 2009-2010 season for South Point.

The game began with South Point going on a 7-0 run to start off. The Lady Pointers kept up the strong defense and ended the first quarter with a 13-3 lead. A huge offensive explosion in the second quarter pretty much put the game away as South Point, led by Kayla Fletcher with 10 second quarter points, outscored Fairland 26-3 in the quarter. The game was never close from there as the Lady Pointers took the win by a final score of 79-40.

The dynamic duo of Kayla Fletcher and Jalynn Bradburn put up one of the biggest games of their high school career as they scored 26 and 24 points respectively, combining to score 50 of South Points 79 points. Senior Tinesha Taylor scored 13 points while junior Ashley Goodall hit several three point shots to score 12 points. In JV action, Fairland won 33-20.

The Lady Pointers will next be in action on Monday, December 14th in a home game against Boyd County. All fans who come to the game on the 14th wearing blue and gold will be admitted in FREE! No all 10 played one of the starters didn't score at all. In the first half 7 different people played. the restof the girls played JV so thy only had one quarter to play. That is just the way it goes.

SP played everybody, including a couple of freshmen from the JV........They have one girl that subs a lot that is a lil dinged up now, but will be better soon............SP will be fine..................
