Good seeding allowed this match-up to happen this late in the tourney. In retrospect a little more fair may have been to have Fairland in the district with Alex instead of with Lynchburg, which may have saved last Saturday's instant classic game until tonight!

Congratulations to the Waterford Lady Wildcats, advancing to the state final with a victory over Jackson Center 37-35. Waterford scored as time expired for the win. As was the case in their prior game, I believe against Danville, sloppy ball handling and turnovers nearly cost the Lady Cats the game. Waterford entered the fourth quarter with a 32-18 lead, which evaporated over the course of the last quarter. It was tied at 35 with 18 seconds left, and the Lady Cats bled the clock and took (from what the radio announcers said) what was not the shot that Coach Close had planned, but the dribble drive and lay up won the game. Congratulations to the ladies from Waterford, this is three years in a row in the state final!!!!!!
