Miami Trace (24-4) vs Hathaway Brown (17-10) @ 3PM
The Lady Panthers join the usual suspects at the Final Four, Ottawa-Glandorf, Kettering Alter and Hathaway Brown for the Thursday afternoon semis.
MT has played two of these teams this year. They scrimmaged Alter in the preseason and played level with them. They played @ Ottawa-Glandorf on Jan. 21 and played them even throughout the game, MT was only down 4 late in the 4th and had to start fouling and O-G ended up winning by 11, 57-46. It showed that the girls can play with these teams.
Chillicothe played @ Hathaway Brown in the regular season and beat them 34-20. I would imagine Coach Ackley made a phone call to Coach Beard of Chillicothe and picked his brain about how to defend HB because MT and Chillicothe play about the same style of basketball.

I imagine the "experts" don't give MT a chance because they don't have the marquee name of the rest of the teams there but I'm hoping we can surprise some people.

Trace should beat Hathaway Brown. Miami Trace plays absolutely unreal defense and that will carry over anywhere.

I like their chances a lot more since they only have to play either Alter or OG if they win instead of having to go through both.

Final
Hathaway Brown 48
Miami Trace 40

MT played out their game plan perfectly for 3 1/2 qtrs and lead throughout until midway thru the 4th, then shots stopped falling. The thing that killed MT was giving up offensive rebounds to HB, mostly in the late 3rd and all of the 4th quarter. HB got 19 offensive rebounds for the game compared to only 8 for MT, I believe they got 13 offensive rebounds in the 2nd half which helped them erase a 10 point lead MT had halfway thru the 3rd quarter.

Tanner Bryant had an incredible game putting up 17 pts, she was the most impressive player on the floor. Victoria Fleihman added 14 to compliment Bryant and both are back next year.

Hopefully, the Lady Panthers can make another run at it next year because they have almost everybody back and a lot of their scorers return, only 2 seniors who played significant time are graduating.

The MT fans showed up big time along with lots of fans from neighboring schools from the area. Sad showing for HB in the fans department, it looked like they only had about 40 fans and around 20 in the student section. MT had 2000+ on their side. I still say that the OHSAA would make a lot more money if they had a separate public and private championships because the public school fans show up and pack gyms. Although they wouldn't have too many in the crowd for private school games. just my two cents.
