Vinton County Lady Vikings
Vinton County Lady Vikings
Predictions? Will they finish regular season undefeated? How far of a run do you think they will make in the postseason? Do they have what it takes to become state champions?

Re: Vinton County Lady Vikings
Great question, they will go undefeated in the regular season. For a DII school they have a very weak schedule. I am interested in seeing them in the tournament matchup against a good DII team.
Re: Vinton County Lady Vikings
Alder gave them a good game...don't know how Alder is doing now.
Had a couple out of league games cancelled
Another game coming up with Alexander where they won the first game by 7
First game with Meigs was a 10 point win
Also they have another game coming up with the Buckeyes where the first game might have been VCs hardest game.

I think it is possible for them to finish the regular season undefeated. As far as tournament goes, we’ll see. As said before, they play an extremely weak D2 schedule. When they play a good D2 team that can play defense against the Bentley sisters, they could be in trouble. Time will tell!

Jonathan Alder is a sub .500 team, so not sure what that score tells you other than it’s a win. I’ll be very interested in seeing a Warren, WCH, MT matchup with them in the Districts. Regardless, they are having a great season, but I’d like to see them strengthen that non-League schedule. Philo also gave them a close game and to put that in perspective, Philo is 5-8 and has taken two absolute beat downs by SE District foe Sheridan who will be in Vinton’s sectional (50-18) and DII Morgan (53-25). Other than those teams, Westfall, PV are real yawners, while Webster is having a nice season, they are DIV, and will not be a real tournament threat at that level.noreply66 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 7:42 am Alder gave them a good game...don't know how Alder is doing now.

Dismantled by Unioto tonight. That probably answers all the questions that were asked.

Yeah, absolutely dismantled by Unioto. Seemed lost at times on their schemes, and a decent defensive team (lacks the physical aspect of MT or Warren) absolutely exposed them. And their own defensive scheme got totally exposed.

The Lady Vikings were not "dismantled" by the Shermans. The Lady Vikings learned a very valuable lesson Wednesday night. Too many times this season the Lady Vikings have been able to shoot their way out of trouble and into wins. However, what should not be lost here, first and foremost, Jeff Miller is a great coach. He was at the game on Monday and he noticed something and he implemented it.
Here is my opinion as to what had happened. The Vikings take a lot of threes. Against Alexander on Monday, their first 15 points were five threes from four different girls. I can guarantee you that Coach Miller knew this. His prefer defense over the past couple of years, has been a packed line defense; however, in this game he went primarily zone. Why? The Lady Vikings have not really demonstrated a post presence, in fairness, they never really had to in most games. In the Unioto game was no different, for the game, the Lady Vikings were 8 for 40 from the arc. Which usually means, one and done.
Also, the Lady Vikings' tendency when they get down is to dial up the pressure and intensity. I am sure Coach Miller expected it and against a Coach Miller team your pressure better be legit, or it is 3 on 2 going the other way. Which what happen, handle the pressure, back dribble, reverse the ball, and cut middle, now it is a 3 one 2 fast break the other way. And thus, a 23 point margin.
Now having said that, the Lady Vikings will be fine. Coach Bentley will make adjustments, they will learn from it and going into the tournament they should be right there to mix it up with Warren, Miami Trace, and anybody else.

Back up to 8th. Oh, and they just won the TVC in case you didn't hear.

Re: Vinton County Lady Vikings
Marietta has won 4 games, just FYI. Congrats to the Vikings, but they did what they should have done.
Re: Vinton County Lady Vikings
Marietta is down this year. Logan without Frasure and Pierce put up 88 on them and won by 41.
Right off I think the TVC is 2 and 1 against Marietta Only playing the Ohio Division.
