Boys Southeast District Tournament
Re: Boys Southeast District Tournament
a_c_m.............Maybe you can help me with this. I just found out all District selections and am trying to understand one obvious omission, at least to me. There is a kid from a school that made it to Districts, they play in a tough league and have a very competitive schedule. Throughout the season this kid was in the top 10 in the state Div II in goals and assists and finished tied for 12 in goals and 9th in assists. He was first team all league and didn`t make all District even though his stats were right with the kid from Marietta and Waverly.
I know you and others will probably point out its not all about stats, but for forwards and mids it really is because that is their goal, to score or help the team score. True? I`m having a hard time grasping how this kid didn`t get District recognition. I`m sure that his coach nominated him. To me this is unbelievable but I know that this school has had a hard time getting respect in the SE District.
By the way, Good luck to Marietta. You are a very good representative for the SE District.

Smeltzy- In the SE DII district there are 22 spots for 1st team and 22 for 2nd team. Each team (16) gets one automatic selection and then has the option of nominating another player for one of the remaining 6 spots. After the coaches talk about their nomination it is up for a vote as to who fills the other spots in.
In most cases the better teams in the district received the extra nominations, but not always.

Thanks socman for answering! I really wasn't sure of how the District did their selections. When they have that many teams involved, it is a fact that someone very deserving is going to be left out. I hope that he was not a Senior and that he will have another year.socman wrote:Smeltzy- In the SE DII district there are 22 spots for 1st team and 22 for 2nd team. Where can I find a complete list of the SE DII district team selections? Haven't seen this info in the local news or on the radio.
