Wish Fu could have been healthy.

Weird how early in the season Unioto had some injuries and disnt play as well, but then hit on all cylinders late. Fu was cruising and playing such good soccer, then injuries really hurt them late.

That's how sports work, and you never know what's going to happen. Unioto, earned it tonight and I think we'd all be shocked if they don't win on Saturday.

Unioto leads Chillicothe 1-0 with 39 minutes left. Jayla Campbell scored 10 seconds into the 2nd half from 25 yards out into the Upper 90. Gorgeous shot

Wow.

Chillicothe scores with 2:34 left to tie Unioto at 1.

Unioto's Jayla Campbell then scores with 1:17 left to go up 2-1...and Erin Callihan scores with :59.5 left to seal it for Unioto!

Final Score

Unioto 3
Chillicothe 1

Unioto's 2nd District Championship and first since they reached the Regional Championship in 2010.

Seems like the prime time to score a goal in the game was within 80 secs of play starting at the center of the field! All the goals but the tying one.

Anyone have an update on the Granville Big Walnut game? I heard through an unconfirmed source it was going into OT.

Going to PKs now

Big Walnut appears to have a major advantage, as Granville's keeper left with an injury in OT.

Edit: Big Walnut wins in Sudden Death in the shootout.

Unioto vs Big Walnut at Bloom Carroll on Tuesday at 7.

Granville beat big walnut earlier in the season 1-0, on I believe a goal in the last minute. So they were both very good teams and if assume thst was probably a heck of a game. I'd still rather play big walnut then Granville.

I'm still a little curious why the SE is playing the CD in semis again. This will be 3rd year in a row. Believe I went back to 2002 earlier in season and every 2 years it rotated and the SE would play a team from the ED. Maybe that was just coincidence, but seems to me it should rotate.

Probably a couple of reasons:

1. The East has 2 winners
2. Because of that, the ohsaa doesn't want to find multiple centralized locations for the Semi Finals (which is something that will always bother me...Unioto vs South Webster at Philo for instance lol)

Yeah.... I get that..

We need to get d2 big enough for 2 winners then.

Yes we do. The East only has 18 D2 schools, but the SE only has 13, which makes it not that close. Hopefully it'll change in the next couple years though

I don't see any schools moving up to D2 in the SE anytime soon. Sadly, with the lack of jobs in the area, most schools are shrinking instead of growing.

Big Walnut 1
Unioto 0

Walnut's speed caught the Shermans off guard early, but played right with them overall. Great season overall.
