Athens 3-2 in a real battle. Hard fought and physical. Athens picked up a straight red with about 5 minutes left in the game. Not a game for 2 refs although they seemed to do a pretty good job.

Kentucky utilizes the 3-man system full time, and it seems to work so much better. I'm not sure why Ohio is still using two.

Because they struggle enough to get 2 man crews to show up to every game. Playoff games should be mandatory though

State mandates 2 man crews for sectionals then 3 for districts and beyond. Claim they do not have enough refs for everyone to have 3 early on but I believe it comes down to money. They don't want to pay for a third ref.

Michael Norris scored his 34th and 35th goals of the year to hold the Alexander single season record. Previous was 34 in 1990 by Scott Johnson.

This game went into overtime, and South scored a goal late in OT, Logan played an amazing game but couldn't pull off the win against the 6th seeded team.

What team scored first, and how late in regulation was the tying goal?

Not sure, the breakdown is what I was told from someone else.

A sophomore who is one of Athens' better players got the red. He argued with the ref after giving the Jackson player a two handed shove when he thought that Jackson was delaying the game. Whatever the reason--not cool at all and the coach, who has had issues controlling his players' aggressive behavior in the past, is at fault in this case. Athens loses a good player, but not their best player for the contest against Fairfield Union. And maybe this is for the best, as going a man down caused them to drop the district final against FU last year.
I know the name of the player, but I don't think it is appropriate to name a minor on this board in this context.

I assume that the game was still tied when this happened? Because otherwise if you are winning why would you care if the losing team is delaying the game?
