D2 Boys scores/tourney

Post by Falcon01 »

What is everyone thinking for the D2 boys tourney? Seeding will be soon. I don't have the north/south breakdown, but here is what I have for teams that report their scores. Doing it alphabetically

Athens - 9-0 beat warren and alexander
chillicothe - 8-2 losses to westerville north and dublin scioto, they have a couple solid games coming up
circleville- 10-0-1 tied BC , beat marrietta
fairfield union- 8-2-1 have 1-0 losses to lancaster and pick central, tied BC
fairland- 2-7
gallia academy- 2-4
hillsboro- 5-2-2
jackson- 0-8
Logan elm- 7-4-1
marietta- 6-4 split with warren
mcclain- 1-2-1
miami trace - 0-3
portsmouth west- 0-9
unioto- 2-3
south point- 5-5-2 lost 9-1 to athens, don't know half the teams they've played (WV schools)
washington CH- 2-4-1
warren- 7-2 lost first two games of season to athens and marrietta by goal each, have wins over John Glenn and Rosecrans
waverly - 2-9
zane trace - 0-3-1

If someone knows the divisional breakdowns for north/south and wants to post them, I can split the teams up by record.

What are everyone's thoughts on who will make it to districts?

Glad to see LE is at 7-4-1. A few years ago, they were pretty down.

LE tied Teays Valley 2-2.

If LE finishes with a winning record, it will be the first in program history.

Circleville is also 10-0-1 with a big match on Wednesday vs. Hamilton Township.

Try using Google Chrome on your phone. It will at least let you view PDF files.

Here is the breakdown

North Schools: Chillicothe, Circleville, Fairfield Union, Hillsboro, Logan Elm, McClain, Miami Trace, Unioto, Washington (Washington CH), Zane Trace. (10)

South Schools: Athens, Fairland, Gallia Academy, Jackson, Marietta, Portsmouth West, South Point, Warren, Waverly. (9)

If you look at the brackets, once the first sectional round is complete, the 1 seed North plays the 4 seed South, 2 seed North plays 3 seed South, etc. Will the coaches vote on seeding only within their sectional or will they vote on both sectionals? Since they will only play 1 game within their sectional, I think they should vote on both, but not sure how that is set up.

You only vote on your side of the sectional, unless things are different on the boys side or have changed recently. Also was told there are 2 district Champs in the se district this year because of the number of teams. So maybe they won't be crossing over like usual this year?

After the first round, the bracket still shows the cross over. And yes, there will be 2 teams move on to regional play.

Other records to correct
Portsmouth West 0-9
Waverly 2-9

so I'll give my shot at ranking these, everyone else can do the same if they want, or just rage on me for my bad choices, lol

north
1- cville, haven't beat anyone outside of marrietta that is any good, but hard to argue undefeated
2- fu- hard choice between them and chilli, but fu has 2 1-0 losses to D1 schools,
3- chilli- see above, they have a 3-2 loss and a 5-0 loss to D1.. these two could be flipped by just about anyone
4- logan elm- chose them over hillsboro because of sos, LE has a opp record of 28-19
5 hillsboro- oppo recored is 16-28
6- unioto
7- CH
8- zane trace
9- mcclain
10- miami trace

south
1- Athens- undefeated
2- Warren- lost first 2 games of year, rolling since
3- marietta
4- south point
5- gallia
6- waverly
7- fairland
8- jackson
9- portsmouth west

Lots of big games to help sort out the seeding before the meeting on October 11.

I know Circleville and Fairfield Union play, but I believe it does not occur until after the meeting.

Chillicothe has a tough non conference schedule, as it appears FU does as well.

Athens also still has to play Marietta, which could shake things up in the south, with Marietta and Warren splitting their two games and Athens already defeating Warren twice.

always seems like there are a couple games a year that are later than the draw that would really really clear things up. owell...
