Week deux (2- for you non French speaking Southeasternphioprepsters) in the SVC will see first place go from a three way tie down to a two way tie. Adena coming of a nice weekend tournament performance (losing in the final to last year div 4 state semi-finalist McComb) will cruise through this weeks schedule. The separation will take place in Frenchtown as the Mustangs come calling on the Tanks. The week will be tougher for the U as they first play a team on the rise (and on the road) in Huntington on Tuesday. The Huntswomen had a great weekend and gained some confidence in getting beat in the Finals of the Athens Invitational by a fine Senior laden Athens team! So the Sherwomen better not be looking ahead or it could end up to be one those dreaded "trap matches".

The match of the week (Westfall @ Unioto) will no doubt be an exiting match but will not be the end of the world for the losing team. Protecting your home floor will be key to winning the league and if memory serves me right Unioto hasn't lost at home (league and non-league) since that pretty new floor was installed last year. It's going to be a good one....can't wait!

1st States Coaches Poll is out and the SVC is getting some respect:
D3-
Adena - 8th
Westfall - 19th

D2
Unioto - 9th

Thursday is gonna be a big night at the U
as two state ranked and "hopefully" undefeated squads lace em up.
Defending the home court is a must in the SVC this season.
The pressure is on the Tanks,
a loss here for the Mustangs
and they will still control their destiny
And with one big road game out of the way
Most of that destiny will be played out in the
Comforts of the Dome.

SVC action Thursday night

On the undercard:

Adena over Southeastern in 3
12, 2, 13

Huntington over ZT in 3
17, 19, 16

Piketon over PV in 3
16, 11, 17

And in the main event

Unioto over Westfall
25 - 18
25 - 22
25 - 22

In the first confrontation between the major houses of the
SVC Game of Thrones,
House Unioto protects the home court vs
the towering invaders from the north, House Westfall
Very good ball by both clubs tonight.

Very little time to rest up for round #2
As Tuesday the Sherman's
travel up the 550 way
To do battle in the Big Blue Wig-Wam with House Adena!

Good win for Huntington in 3 over ZT. Adena sent a message to the upstart Panthers and The U made the statement I made earlier that they are the team to beat this year. A long way to go still, but a huge early W for the Lady Shermans. Tuesday will answer some questions...but not all.

Tuesday is gonna big night in the SVC:

Westfall travels to Piketon
The Mustangs take the stampede
to the uranium enriched land of Piketucky

ZT @ PV
Look for the Pioneers to win the battle of the bottom of the barrel

Southeastern away at Huntington
Both teams are playing better,
The winner will set themselves apart from
The bottom half of the league.
I will take the Huntsmen on their home court.

Unioto vs Adena
Both ranked in the top 10 of the state in their respective divisions.
Both undefeated in SVC play.
Both squads Senior laden.
Both squads have multiple players
who have played for and won OVR Regional Gold.
Both coaches have coached at the highest levels
In both High School and OVR.
Folks this may just be the best SVC volleyball match
in the history of the League.
With that being said I think the Pressure is on Adena
to defend the home Wig Wam.
While neither team is out of the league hunt with a loss here
Home losses will be much harder to overcome for any one of
The SVC's BIG THREE.

Will WKKJ or SVC Sports Zone be broadcasting this one?

HAHA....that is line is so good it should be considered poetry

And now on to the feature match that will be played on Tuesday, Unioto vs Adena... these teams are very similar as you have pointed out. (You did leave out that BOTH were Regional Finalist in their respective Divisions in last years tournament) I see the determining factor is which team passes serve receive more efficiently and which team plays better defense. It sounds pretty basic and simplistic but when you have two teams that are evenly matched it all comes down to ball control and which team can keep the other team out of system the most. I would be very surprised if this match goes in 3.... so strap yourselves in for an epic 5 setter!!

Doing a little thread consolidation this morning..........
RonVonHagen wrote:Meatloaf?? A 70's rock "mega" star?? More like a mega sweaty, mega fat clown that was a boil on the butt of rock and roll!

I think more appropriately would be the tunes of Blue Oyster Cult, that iconic 70's band....
For a man so well versed, superior knowledge of SVC Volleyball and plyometrics
I find you a total lackwit when it comes to music
Did you know if you played a Blue Oyster Cult album backwards you could hear demonic messages?
Even worse if you played it forward you would hear Blue Oyster Cult.......
RonVonHagen wrote: I would go on but I'm still trying to get over the fact that Raspberry Beret is your all time favorite Prince tune....
That's not correct, the metaphor master piece "Purple Rain" is the X's all time favorite Prince song, Raspberry Beret is #2
RonVonHagen wrote: (You did leave out that BOTH were Regional Finalist in their respective Divisions in last years tournament)
Your are correct, if these two teams needed to fill out an resume to play in this game,
There would be no need for double spacing.
RonVonHagen wrote: Not sure but I will be wearing my GoPro on my forehead and live streaming it!
Will it be on YouTube or Pollystreaming, Boo doing the play by play with you doing the color?
Get Main Man to produce, he will keep the unnecessary comments to a minimum.

I think both teams are pretty even, in some aspects of the game you could give the advantage one way or the other but I don't think it's a huge difference either way.
I think the difference will come down to Unioto's ability to cover the cleverly timed line shots Adena is so proficient at delivering.

Great match as Adena holds home court and takes sole possession of 1st place! A drama packed match that was well played. Set 1: Too many service errors for the Tanks, Adena takes it 25 -21. Set 2: Great D by the warriors controls the set 25 - 18. Set 3: The U actually set the middle and it gave the outsides more room to operate and control the set...not without some drama before closing it out for the 25 -23 win. Set 4: Too many unforced hitting errors for Unioto early before a furious comeback before falling; losing 25- 23. I figured this might of went 5 and it very well could of.

After watching the big three play I would say Adena and Unioto are the top teams...but look for Westfall, not to win it but play the role of the spoiler.

Btw... the future looks bright for both programs as the JV match was played at a high level with tons of talent on both sides of the net!

Pretty boring week in the SVC other than the Westfall @ Adena match up. I think Adena wins this but will it go 3 or 4?? Still, don't count Westfall's chances out of winning the league yet because they have both Unioto and Adena in the comfy confines of the thunderdome. A lot of volleyball left to be played and right now for the Big 3 its all about "protecting your house"! (Hmmm... that sound like a good line for an Under Armour commercial). I'm not sure anyone else in the league is capable of playing the spoiler and upsetting any of the Big 3 at this point in time.

The status of injuries may play a facto in round #3 of the big 3.

By looking at the stats on SVCSPORTSZONE,
(100% SVC, 100% of the time)
the Mustangs Look to be healthier
than they were on their Frenchtowne excursion.
While Adena seem to be short a valuable Warrior
since the battle royal with Unioto in match #2 of the big 3.

A win by the Warriors will go along way in securing a seat in the SVC Iron throne,
But that's a pretty big chair so a Co-Throner could still be a possibility.
Westfall needs to make a move here, a loss will move them two games out and make a solo seat in the SVC Iron Chair next to impossible for them.

I just hope the Big Blue Wigwam doesn't need a triage unit
for round 3 like they did in round 2.
