Tonight the JV hitting looked well, but the pitching kind of struggled, our pitchers need to work on the mechanics, and we need to work on hitting our cutoff men.

Varsity opens play on Tuesday with In-County Rival Jackson at home.

JV opens play on Friday with Minford, I would assume that is who we would be playing.

Nope, we have only one person on the Baseball that plays Basketball as well, and that is Dylan Lewis, who plays JV in both.

The Oaks are improved over last years team after seeing them play last night but they still have work to do, espeically on the little things ie; postioning after the ball is hit, hitting cutoff men and quality innings from the pitching. Good luck Oaks.

I personally believe they were better last year. I think they won more then they lost last year. It is early, but the team I saw is going to have a tough time having a winning record. What was their record last year?

It actually the same way they started out last year. It always seems that Oak Hill doesn’t get the earlier work needed to start the season out ready. A lot of that is attributed to not have any indoor facilities to use to get timing down and needed preliminary work. And it really hasn’t helped to have a killer start to the schedule with teams that appear the have the strongest teams they have had in a while. If they can jell a little I believe they will be OK. Hey, that’s why they play the games right?

I think they were 14 & 10 last year. If I’m not mistaken they won the last 6 or 7 of the season.

You can practice in the gym like other schools. Although it is not ideal, lots of drills and situations can be covered. You can also hang a net and getting some batting practice in as well. Pitchers and catchers can get their work in as well. I know our team had been on the field very few times before our game Wed. but they had been in the gym daily.

That’s possible at most schools but not at Oak Hill. They have two gyms inside of the new school but are not allowed any/limited use of them. Other than conditioning (running) they are just not allowed.

They were allowed to use the Football field. But with the earlier weather it was still limited.

Not allowed to use the gym of the school they are representing??????? STUPID! If I were a parent of a baseball player, I would go to the principal first and if that didnt work, I'd make an appearance at the next board meeting.
